I think Staal's play has a lot more to do with being the guy who needs to jump into the play than it does his eye. He struggled when Tortorella tried to turn him into an offensive player as well. For all of Stralman's alleged offensive ability, he hasn't done much while paired with Staal.

Marc Staal goes through a very, very small stretch of, not bad, but average hockey and now people are entertaining trading him. He has been fantastic this year, looks closer to the form he was at a few years ago.

And I never called anyone xenophobic, I don't think people are necessarily biased against Stralman consciously. I have a feeling if Stralman played like McDonagh he would have people say how soft he is and complain too. Not necessarily maliciously, but there's a stereotype that Europeans are soft that still permeates and it often at least subconsciously (sometimes consciously) affects people's perceptions of players.

Tim Gleason being a prime example of an underrated stay at home type who isn't a big hitter. One of my favorites in the league.

Tim Gleason? Carolina wants to trade him and can't find a taker. Carolina is discussing a Gleason for JM Liles trade with Toronto. Bad contract for bad contract.

The Rangers can't be one of these teams which re-signs one of their players to a long-term deal and then decides they want to trade the player in the second year of that contract because that player isn't the player he used to be.

Gleason has two years remaining. Liles has two more years.

Girardi hasn't been very good since 11-12. He has been OK this season. He was OK in the lockout year.

Girardi has played his best hockey already. He will be 30 in the spring.

The Stars have been at the Garden many times scouting the Rangers. The Stars AGM Les Jackson was at the Vancouver game. DZ would be a fit on the Stars.

Sather should ask for Mika Zbad and the Sens 2015 1st when Murray calls him again about Del Zotto. Their 2014 #1 belongs to Anaheim. Bobby Ryan trade. That team isn't making the playoffs. Ryan will be a Flyer in 2015.

One guy I always think of with that type of player is a prime Sylvain Lefebvre. Even during part of his time with the Rangers, he was that way.
