Maybe we should set Boyle up with an Olympic fighter of some sort during Christmas break.
I mean, why not get someone down to MSG training center one day and instill a bit more toughness into them? Is it that silly of an idea? It's not going to transform our players into fighters but at least they'll handle their physically better and play with physicality more comfortably.
Toughness is all about mindset, not technique. Sure, if you take an already "tough" player that likes to throw 'em and set him up with a fighting coach he might become feared and dominant, but you're not going to coach toughness into a guy like Brian Boyle. It's just not in his makeup, and that's fine.
This is another topic that we've been over multiple times. No one, not just the Rangers, has an answer for Lucic. The guy is an absolutely unique player. That said, IMO, Torts' Rangers were weighted too far towards tough on the tough-skill spectrum. This team is too far towards skill (which is scary since they still can't score), but adding a straight-up tough guy isn't going to help anything. They need to replace the "skill" players on the lower lines (Pouliot and Pyatt specifically) that aren't doing anything with their skill with players that can handle themselves while remaining effective on the forecheck. That's easier said than done though.
