I think if Staal was on the block we would have heard. Carolina has been struggling to score, I doubt they would be willing to move Skinner right now.

Disagree. The team still lacks players who can shoot the puck, and with Callahan falling off the face of the earth, the need for a scoring winger has gotten bigger.

Honestly, I might get some flak for this, but I think we should look into moving Staal rather than Del Zotto. We need an offensive player on the blueline more than a player like Staal - we already have 3 defensive defenseman with mediocre offensive games in Girardi, Strålman, and Staal. I'd rather keep the younger, cheaper Del Zotto, and move Staal, whose value should still be relatively high. We might be able to get a decent scoring forward and a good right handed defender back in a trade.

Ideally, the Rangers could use a LW with size to on the 2nd line with Brassard. It was my belief that the Rangers needed to build a 2nd line this past off-season around Brassard. I think part of the reason Brassard struggled up until recently is that AV had him tied at the hip with Pouliot, who aside from games against the Wings and Isles, has been useless. I think Kristo will be a long term answer on RW, but, he's not ready.

Callahan and Girardi are definitely not worth what they are going to ask for this offseason. Trade them now while they still have value. Girardi has been god awful this year. Callahan has been nearly invisible. I think the style that they play has hit them hard. Trade them for younger bigger and more physical players that have talent while they can.

I would like to see Brassard with a winger who can actually shoot the puck. He's been pretty good recently, IMO, but yesterday he had to drag around Richards and Callahan at ES and has been stuck with Pouliot/Boyle/Dorsett at times. He hasn't exactly had ideal linemates. LW with size-Brassard-Kristo could be a pretty good line.

Although, I firmly believe Miller is our 2C of the future.

Why does everyone think Carolina will move Skinner? Guy is a 21 year old 30 goal scorer, why would they move him for Marc Staal? I doubt they care about having every Staal in the league play for them, i doubt they move Skinner. 7th overall picks usually dont get traded that early

Well with Staal's current play I agree, but do we think he can get back to his level before the eye injury/concussion? And then also taking into account the possibility of him wanting to go play with his brothers on the Hurricanes.

Not interested in Skinner for Staal, he's already had concussion issues and is on an inflated contract. This is why you go for the 2 year deal off the ELC.

Callahan isnt a 2nd line player, maybe on a Torts team but on an AV team that is trying to play a fast paced game, he has no business on the 2nd line.

In the near future, I'd like to see him between Hagelin and Callahan. You are probably right in terms of the long-term view.

He has concussions and his goal scoring has dropped.

Petr Prucha scored 30 at a young age too. The situations are not identical but the point is rather the same.

We talked about Staal's situation. If he's traded, chances are good it would be to Carolina. We need a sniper, which is why Skinner becomes the obvious target as Semin is payed at league value.

I'd like to see that line, too. Better than having Dom Moore as the 3C (who I like, but he's a 4th liner at this point).

Brassard has 5 points in the last 7 games, considering what he's had to work with that's damn good albeit in a small sample size. The guy hasn't been magic like he was in the playoffs last year, but he's also not had the best linemates. He's been playing like a decent 2C recently.

Is faster Dubinsky with less grit a good approximation to what you think Miller will do? I remember when we just got Dubi he would floor me with his skill sometimes he just couldn't finish, reminds me of Miller. Is he good enough to be a 2C? Can he be a 50 point guy? I think I'd like to see him back at center on that 3rd line. Moore is a great 4C, not 3C. Then we can get rid of Pouliot and bring back the Boyle-Moore-Dorsett 4th line. Hagelin-Miller-Zucc would be a hell of a 3rd line.

True but i dont see them trading him becuase he has concussion issues. And his scoring doesnt look like it has dropped, 31 goals rookie season, 20 goals in 64 games and then 13 in lockout year last year and 4 in 15 games this year. Where has it dropped?

Agreed...give me Ryan Murphy and their #1 next year as the main package. I'll take on Ruutu's deal if they add a 2nd in 2015. Heck, I'll be generous and throw Pouliot or Pyatt back their way.

:naughty:

Any chance Brassard gets traded this season? Insane skills but so incredibly inconsistent. With his shot and passing ability I think he could easily be a 60+pt guy. But the inconsistencies makes him a 40-50 pt guy at best. I would package him with Del Zotto and see what NYR could get.

Colombus fans warned us about his inconsistency last year. I dont see them trading Brassard though, plenty of other inconsistent guys on the team

He's our 2c/3c next year with Lindberg slotted as the other. Whoever is more consistent will be the 2c.

What if Lindberg/Miller/Kristo/McIlrath all are not ready next year? Play them anyways?

I can see Sather making a move for Stastny in July if he makes it to free agency. Even if we dont sign him i can see us in the mix, but thats IF we dont bring Brassard back

I'm expecting 2 of those 4 to not be ready. I think McIlrath and Miller will be ready. I can see Kristo and Lindberg needing more time

He's been playing with better linemates and we mixed up the PPs and lo and behold he looks good.
