Everybody just forgets about the fact Girardi will get monster UFA offers from teams and we will lose him for nothing.

As constructed our main problem is that we are offensively challenged. Of course I wish that were more physical but except for bringing up McIlrath, there is little hope of that changing. Adding toughness with marginal players does not help. Unless we can acquire a physical forward who could play in our top two lines, adding toughness anywhere else is pointless.

Boston is not only a physical team, they are a very talented team, more talented than we are. We are essentially a finesse team. Can a finesse team take down the Bruins? Yes, if the PP and PK are working and players perform as expected.

The way that the Bruins wore us down in the third period was distressing. But as poorly as we played, it was a road game, a game where we led after two periods, and lost by one goal. The game was winable and you can make the case that, as disturbing as it was to be taken to task by Lucic and Chara, we lost because of a difficient PP.

Score more....win more.

McGinn to Rangers?? if he is fallen out of favor, id love him on this team. he can skate and provide energy and can score 10-15 a year. better than most on the Rangers 3rd and 4th line..

also goes to the net..

That's awful, Bern. You seem to have the same obsession with Siemens that you had with Dylan Olsen, who, as I kept explaining to you, is horrible.

im the one that was offering Siemens as part as Del Zotto but with McGinn and McLeod coming back.. Rangers need players like that in their lineup.. McLeod would be a great addition on this team. can PK and has size and grit and can play 10 mins a night. McGinn can score 15 goals and provide speed agitating ability and PK..

i really dont want this team paying him $6 mill. hes slow, terrible with the puck and scores way too many wtf goals on hank to justify paying him that money. we could get a good returns for him now or even at the deadline.

I wouldn't mind getting McGinn, but Colorado would need to add a nice piece to him to get DZ back. Like a 1st rounder.

I just don't understand what the delay is. If there is no deal by the deadline, what happens? You can't let him walk. He would bring a huge return to a team going into the playoffs that wants to add a top 4 shutdown guy that eats minutes.

Siemens stinks.

Ideally, this is what I think will happen before the start of next season.

Figure Stralman and Girardi are gone as both will get contract offers a lot bigger than the Rangers are prepared to offer.

Skjei leaves Minnesota, wows in camp and makes the team. McIlrath makes the team. The league believes in Talbot and he is traded for a number 1 pick and a good, veteran defenseman to a team with crap goaltending and there are several out there.

MDZ is traded for third line center and a second round pick. Brassard is signed. Richards is bought out. Lindberg makes the team. Rights to Boyle are traded after season for a mid round pick.

i actually dont think stralman will get that big of an offer. he is incredibly underrated and i think slats could resign him cheap. girardi on the other hand is probably the most overrated dman in the league and will make $6+ million as a ufa.

I looked at it like this. The Islanders, Devils and Flyers alone would offer him 4 years, 4 million because they have nothing on defense.

devils honestly believe they have the best defense in the NHL and they rejected him after he came to them on a tryout. do the flyers even have the cap space to do that? maybe the isles would offer that to him.

Not seeing that as an offer the Rangers would have a problem matching. That would be a bargain.

i would do it. hes a solid dman who isnt noticeable (which is kinda what you want from a 2nd or 3rd pairing RD). he has a good shot and a nice hipcheck. i have absolutely no problem keeping stralsy. his emergence is probably the best thing that came directly from torts,

If Kreider and Zuccarello continue to play well, we have less of a need to trade MDZ for a forward.

theres no reason to trade MDZ just cause..

kids 23yrs old, and still has loads and loads of talent to play in a top 4 role.. its the coaches responsibility to maximize a players play and role within a team..

DZ's effort is there and he wants to be a NYR.. AV should play him in a spot to succeed..

also yes Girardi would get paid handsomely 5-6yr 5-6m range on FA.. however he will stay a ranger after this season, who the hell can replace him out there right now? Stralman, McIrath hahahah.. hes our rock and a beast on the back end..top 4 RHd is the hardest position to fill besides 1c in NHL.. you guys should know this, but you guys all just want shinny new toys.. he plays pure d and its what we need.. i see a 4-5yr 4.5-5m year.. he will not be going anywhere..

look for sather to go after players like..
-Cammilari
-Stasny
-raymond
-seto
-hemsky
-Havlet
-Glencross

Agreed. Keep DZ

Disagree. The team still lacks players who can shoot the puck, and with Callahan falling off the face of the earth, the need for a scoring winger has gotten bigger.

Honestly, I might get some flak for this, but I think we should look into moving Staal rather than Del Zotto. We need an offensive player on the blueline more than a player like Staal - we already have 3 defensive defenseman with mediocre offensive games in Girardi, Strålman, and Staal. I'd rather keep the younger, cheaper Del Zotto, and move Staal, whose value should still be relatively high. We might be able to get a decent scoring forward and a good right handed defender back in a trade.

It depends. There is a certain NCAA free agent coming up for grabs this offseason who shoots the puck better than 90% of NHL players.

MDZ looks better, more confident of late. NYR have a good rotation going with defense. Sure, offense is still a problem, but most of the deals I have seen are MDZ for prospects, which is basically just a move for the sake of moving him while he has value.

If NYR want a scorer, they could probably land one for picks at the deadline, It all depends on the direction the head in this season. Just make sure you can keep your UFAs. Keeping assets will be crucial.

But why do we need to trade Del Zotto? His value?

i mean it would suck to loose staal but he would deff get a legit top 6 talent..

Kane, Eberle, Ryan, etc.. but slats wont trade him and i dont blame him.. having staal and mcd as your top 4 LD is solid as its going to get in the NHL
