AV wants his players to outnumber the opposition in the defensive zone. Get the puck back and go on the transition. Sometimes you see both D behind the net outnumbering the lone opposition player with the puck. The forwards have drop down and cover for the D. Its not that difficult.

It's not about playing Boston's game. It's about playing with some pride and dignity. They laid down and died in the Boston game. I truly admire and appreciate what Boyle did the last two games but he got man-handled badly. I don't mind him getting man-handled if its in defense of his teammates, however, I don't like that he seems to be one or the first to do so. They need another forward who can play the game of hockey (not be a goon like Setito) and defend his teammates. Dorsett is overmatched as well. I was hoping Falk would give it a go with Kassian. They can't get bullied out there. They did against Boston and that puck possession game you speak of Ola, disappeared.

Nah, I don't think they laid down and died last night just beause we didn't have any pride/didn't care at all about if we won or not. My impression is that Boston started taking runs at our D's, and that got them off their game.

Hence, I would be more worried about finding a way for this team to handle Boston's runs, not to be able to stand up against them. Or find ways to scare Chara and co sheitless. You know, I just wonder how good we would be to compete with Boston in that area, they are pretty good at it.

With that said, I think we have a toughness issue as I imagine that you do to. McIlrath would/will help. I wonder if someone like Pyatt on the 4th line couldn't be replaced by a decent forward who can fight too. Etc.

But I just don't think our prime concern should be to beat Boston in Boston's ally. The team I've seen do well against Boston are not that type of teams, its teams that can take the puck to Boston.

I saw those Nash rumors on twitter heading to the game yesterday. Adam Graves was scouting in Montreal last week. The Rangers aren't trading Nash. He has a no movement clause. The twitter people heard what McKenzie said about Pacioretty. It must be a a trade for Nash.

Boston makes many teams look bad. The Rangers had a 2-1 lead in that game. They win that game and people aren't upset. There were people on twitter saying they were embarrassed to be a Ranger fan after the Boston game. Boston is a better team than the Rangers. Embarrassed?

The issue with the Rangers is they aren't good enough. They have some good pieces. Management needs to make changes. More building needs to take place.

What this team needs is a power forward who can fight and play on the top three lines legitimate Power forward. A guy like Simmonds, who we won't be able to get, some one who can go toe to toe with a guy like Lucic, Simmonds Hartnell, Martin etc guys from our division that terrorize our more finess team so a guy I'm thinking about is Chris Stewart from the blues, what do you guys think, is there a way to get him with say Del Zoto/Miller combination what are you're thoughts. I think Lucic single handedly beat us last game

If I'm giving up Miller, (which, unlike posters on this board, I would think the Rangers are very hesitant to do), it better be for something a lot more valuable than Chris Stewart. In fact, I wouldn't give up Del Zotto straight up for Stewart. And, the Blues have no need for Del Zotto on defense.

That's so silly. We got outplayed badly in the last 2 periods but limited Boston's chances for the most part. Say what you want about the last goal, the 2nd one was a fluke. If people were embarrassed to be Rangers fans after that game what did they think after the Sharks and Ducks games? Knowing how stupid people are it was probably because Boyle lost a fight.

Rangers need some team toughness - they aren't even tough enough to deal with Vancouver, much less Boston and it's pretty evident there's a complete lack of respect considering what Pierre said about Sestito's comments.

what did Pierre say?

The Pacioretty rumors all began a few weeks ago when he wasn't scoring and started questioning Therrien's game plan (defensive hockey- Habs lead the league in blocked shots by a wide margin...), and also wasn't happy about the benching of his very good friend Desharnais. Add to that, the fact that he fired his agent a few weeks back, after signing a long term deal last year, and everyone figured he wasn't happy in Montreal.
Now he's on a tear, and I don't think Montreal would trade him for fear of fan reaction, as he's pretty popular here, and probably just as liked as Price and Subban. The local media have speculated that he doesn't look happy, and its probably an issue with the coach. The concerns are that he plays a perimeter game and doesn't go to the dirty areas often enough, and relies on his speed to create chances and score goals.
I have always thought that Kreider reminded me of Pacioretty, as they both have great speed, size and strenght. I doubt Montreal trades him to us, since they're looking for size up front, which we clearly don't have. I seriously doubt we trade Nash, so I really don't what would be of interest to both sides?

It's amazing we beat the Canucks 5-2, having a 4-0 lead midway through the game and it's 5-1 before a phantom call and the Rangers aren't tough enough to deal with the Canucks. They're tough enough to deal with them on the scoreboard that's all that matters. Some of you guys really need to switch to boxing or pro wrestling.

I don't know, I wouldn't say Kreider is strictly a perimeter player. He just scored 2 goals by going to the net. That said he's more of a perimeter player.

Basically that Sestito was chirping at the Rangers bench after the MDZ shot saying "what are you going to do about it? Nothing!" because he knows we have no one to deal with the likes of him

Sestito is a Pejorative Slur and doesn't belong on the ice, what are we going to do, win the ****in' game

They didn't make us look bad but they have something we've lacked for 2 years now... resilience. 2 years ago we stave that team off. 2 years ago if we're down 2-1 we are the team that finds the way to battle back.

Resilience has to do with the mentality in the locker room. Players find a way to get it done. Pitt had that when they went to the SCF the two years in a row they went. Detroit same thing those 2 years.

It's not just about talent. We have that. We have i'd say 90% of the pieces in place to be something special. We need those players that will fight and fight when it matters most.

Just for clarification, I didn't say Kreider was a perimeter player, that's the word on Pacioretty.

If you have a soft roster and a 4 goal lead there is not a lot of incentive for opposing goons to keep their elbows down. The Rangers need some more toughness (without sacrificing their ability to play their game) or they are going to keep having players out with PCS. It isn't "bad luck". It is a best indifference and at worst calculated targeting of a team who can't defend themselves. There is direct evidence of this via Gianonne's and Pierre's comments. It isn't just chirping if players actually follow through on it.

Sestito's comments remind me of what Carcillo said after he fought Gabby: "I don't know who on that line would have been able to help him."

I hate goons like Sestito, but unfortunately some of them still play in this league and they are capable of doing stupid things to opposing players. A few of them may take liberties knowing that Dorsett is our only fighter. Rangers have to stay on their toes, we lucked out that Del Zotto walked away injury-free.
