Potential play for Sedins in off-season

If the Canucks continue to falter and decide to rebuild their team, would the Rangers make a play for the Sedins in the off-season. This move would potentially make the Rangers a cup-contending team for the next 5 years. The Rangers also have lots of cap-space to make it happen. Also, Sather likes to acquire big sexy star players, so it makes sense from that standpoint too.

If the Sedins do waive their no-trade, it would be to the Rangers: Storied franchise, potential contender, weak division, familiar coach.

What can the Rangers offer to make this happen?

Who needs the Sedins when we can re-unite Hlavac-Nedved-Dvorak and deploy them as our 5th line?

Richards on the wing today and Stepan as the 1C looked pretty good. Honestly, a cheap rental 2C like Stajan or Legwand could really help this year without giving a significant asset. Kreider-Stepan-Nash. Richards-Legwand-Zuke. Pouliot-Brassard-Hagelin. Boyle-Moore-Dorsett.

Your name says Cally lol

I knew I forgot someone lol, this microbrew I'm drinking was more potent than I expected. Switch him with Pouliot. Point still stands:

Kreider-Stepan-Nash
Richards-Legwand-MZA
Hags-Brassard-Cally
3 of Boyle, Moore, Dorsett, Pyatt, Pouliot.

That could be very good. Not sure what it wily take to get Legwand, though.

From Montréal here. I come in peace. We heard a lot rumbles that the Rangers and Habs are talking a major deal. Names mentionned: Nash and Brassard vs. Pacioretty, Desharnais, Tinordi or Beaulieu plus a first round pick. One journalist on beat @PatrickCaisse talk about it and dlcoulisses.com also talked about it. Don't shoot the messenger. I just want to know what NYR fans think about it. Thanks in advanced

Wow. It might just be me, but I think the Habs get bent over in that trade. Pacioretty is not much of a downgrade over Nash at all (plus it gives us some cap flexibility). Plus we get a good D prospect AND a first round pick? MaxPac replaces Nash, Desharnais is a stopgap for Brassard's spot (with the idea that Miller or a FA would fill that role next year), Tinordi/Beaulieu allows us more flexibility for another move (maybe move a guy like Girardi for help on the RW), and the 1st helps to fill a cupboard that is getting more and more bare (due to prospect graduations and not having a pick in the top two rounds last year).

I would do this in a heartbeat (but in fairness, I was never as big on the Nash acquisition as the rest of the board).

That whole rumor started with TFP, which is basically a hockey tabloid. Why would the Rangers want to trade Nash again? Cap flexibility? Richards is coming off the books this summer.

McDonough's defense is really starting to bother me. His consistency level has really gone away. He'll have flashes of greatness and then make some really really boneheaded plays. Seems like he's less alert, less focused, defensively.

Girardi too.

In other news, MDZ actually looked decent today. Seemed determined to shoot and make a good pass. Many, including myself, blame him for his diminished creativity and level of play this season. Could his poor performance also be attributed lack of focus?

Too many defensive lapses. People are getting on Hank but the defense has been leaving both goalies out to dry.

Unnerving. The onus should be on the coaches to focus the team. McD, G, MDZ/Moore... all need to buckle down if this team is going anywhere.

Rangers definitely need a steve ott or cheis neil type. Whoever cones cheaper. Yesterday was disgusting. They were bullied.

This is something that makes me a bit uneasy, do we really want to try to beat Boston playing their type of game? Because that is something they are doing pretty well themselves.

Chicago didn't beat them that way.

We played really well against them in the first game this year and in the first period yesterday, by holding on to the puck and taking the play to them.

They ran our D's, we started to throw the puck away, got ourself in trouble, and all of a sudden they pwned us completely. By getting more guys like Neil and co, we will play their game more but do it better. I would be more worried about building a team that can make Boston adopt to you.

Detroit is good at what they are doing, but that 6-1 beating they gave Boston three days ago definitely says alot. Boston can look pretty darn unimpressive too when you make them move around a bit.

That's what I'd like to see as the 3rd line. Miller looks much more at home in the middle.

miller should be up playing no reason he should be in the a.. he will make mistakes but i rather him play then pyatt/pouliot.. hes the future give him 3rd line minutes..never really was given a consistent chance..

defensively we're fine.. your reaching for something thats not there.. our guys on the backend are warriors.. every game g and mac play against the leagues best and shut them down.. plus your going to have mistakes here and there when yu play 25+ min a night.. nature of the beast.. don't over analyze and nit pick..
