This is what you get when you mistake dead-weight for depth. I bought into it in the off-season, I thought we had way more depth than last season. I am here to eat my crow.

But $1mil goalies win cups :naughty:

Unlike the other cup winning teams with $1 mil goalies, we don't have the extra $7.5 mio to add depth.

We are going to be like the yankees soon, stuck with all these long term fat contracts for underachievers. But unlike the mlb, the nhl has a hard cap. We are ****ed.

Hagelin and Callahan have been major disappointments imo...coincidentally both coming off major shoulder surgery.

Underachieving in a season where they should be playing for a contract. Going above and beyond.

That, and the fact that some players on this team wanted Torts gone because they felt he was holding them back offensively/was too mean, speaks volumes about the players on the team. They are in a contract year and they manage to get the coaching change they want, yet they perform worse than usual? Unacceptable.

Our leadership is playing like ****.

I would not mind whatsoever if everyone who's ever worn a letter for this team (Cally, Richie, Girardi, and Staal) were no longer on this team next year.

Our "core players", quite frankly, look like ****.

McD, Kreider. Those are keepers. Stepan is close.

Everyone else like Callahan, Staal, and Girardi should be traded for young talent or picks. We're not winning anything with them this year, and we're not winning anything when they get bloated contracts.

Young but not great players like Brassard, Moore, etc. are hard to decide on.

Bring in guys with a winning attitude. Not losers like Poop, Pyatt, or players from loser franchises like Columbus or Edmonton. Bring in guys with mental fortitude who won't crumble like a house of cards when they something doesn't go their way.

TLDR: I am so done with this core.

Lundqvist has to be a keeper because of his new no trade clause and 7 year contract. The rebuild fans were hoping for is now impossible because:

1.) Sather extending Hank proves he never wanted to rebuild

2.) Lundqvist is now extended meaning we'll never be able to tank.

3.) Dolan only cares about making the extra revenue from the playoffs. He doesn't care about winning.

this team is run like any Manhattan corporation. it just has to turn a profit. a hockey team on madison ave is a novelty of nyc. just like any long running broadway show.

signing lundqvist is just a corporate decision to save face. "we want to win the stanely cup"... sure, I want to win a million dollars. sounds great. means nothing.

Sather doesn't know how or what it takes to win in this league today.

I'm baffled by these Columbus moves though. I thought Sather was surrounded by more intelligence than that. I can't believe they stood by and supported these moves bringing in these losers.

We're the NY bluejackets.

Are people still moaning about trading Gaborik? He's terrible now. Get over it. They should have traded him years ago

no, the team we traded him to and the players we got in return.

should have waited instead of bringing in "depth" for a playoff run for a coach you fired a month later...

you should read more carefully

A lot of fans liked that trade when it went down. But Moore has taken a step back, Brassard hasn't figured it how to bring it consistently, and Dorsett is not the Prust we were hoping for but rather some nightmarish Avery/Hollweg lovechild.

I do agree though they should be focused on bringing in guys from successful cultures.

Should have waited? To trade gaborik when he was completely worthless? How much value do you think he has now? Anisimov is worth more.

The mistake was not trading him years ago to the kings when they were sniffing around and offering Simmonds and Schenn

we DO have depth...what we dont have is a system that matches that depth....and, what we dont have are a collection of players that match the system.

its a hodge podge of players thrown together *HOPING* that they will be a jack of all trades team.

Speed game with Kreider and HAgelin...makes sense.

speed game with Pyatt, Richards, and Boyle?!

Does Dan Girardi make sense for a transition team?

the best gms tend to put together players that can fit within the confines of the system, not to expect the systemt o change players into something they arent.

we do have a lot of good players, what we dont have is a lot of good players capable of playing the same way.

Agreed. No argument there. Outside of Nash I don't like these guys we brought in

Brassard is the perennial Sather reclamation project. Moore doesn't like that promising anymore and Dorsett is a tough midget... I'm mean really?

Agreed 100%.

Is it a coincidence that after we got all the Blue Jackets players that our culture changed?
