Callahan and Richards are the leaders on this team. These guys should be setting the tone in the room. They wear the letter on their sweater. Staal has his own problems.

AV has called out the players how many times already?

I got ripped for calling Callahan a bad captain

Richards should not be a leader on this team. He should have been bought out. I know he has been better but everyone knows he will be bought out next summer so who will really listen to him anyway. So he is our version of a dead beat coach Who is on the final year of a contract.

How do you know management buys him out? Just like everyone was right about him getting bought out last offseason right? Theyre gonna listen to Callahan? Lol

If management doesn't buy him out, they have sacks of potatoes for brains.

Cap recapture will **** us hard when he retires.

You say this but ignore the fact that he's LITTERALLY the ONLY one who's won a damn thing on this squad.

I don't like him as a leader, or a player at this point... but who else has a ring? A Conn Smythe?

Not a damn one. Including the coach.

I keep seeing this "talent" argument going on, but do you really need to have top-end talent to play like you give a ****? No, you don't. There is absolutely no excuse for this team not to bust it's ass every game. In fact, the lack of talent alone should be more than reason enough to do so.

I think it's a similar situation to Edmonton. Whereas Edmonton has become complacent in their losing, the Rangers have become complacent in their mediocrity. This group has realized that "<x> wasn't good enough" is simply lip service that's paid by the front office and the coaching staff. Now they've inherited it for their own vocabulary.

Unfortunately, the only real remedy is a pretty drastic change in leadership; starting with the front-office. Sadly, that will never happen. McKinsey can put together a 300 slide powerpoint to show to Dolan about how Sather has been flushing his money down the toilet for 12 years, but that's not going to change a thing as long as Sather can weasel this team into a first or second round playoff exit every year.

So what are the other options? What can this team do? Its like as long as Sather is GM we will never win a cup?

The only players that can't be moved are

Mcdonagh
Lundqvist
Richards
Kreider
Nash

Everyone else is on the block, IMO

Richards is an amnesty buyout. 34 years old and 6 more years on that contract. Six years.

Add Stepan.

Right. That's why I included Richards on the list. Nobody else in the league would touch him.

Stepan is 50/50. He has not been anything special this year.

I firmly believe that while Sather is GM, we will never win a cup. As long as he is influencing the way this team is molded, it will be entirely mediocre. It's just the reality of the situation.

Its amazing. We are stuck in a cycle of mediocrity. Torts was hiding the flaws of the team, now we know why.

Really surprised so many people around here consider Stepan 'moveable'

I vehemently disagree. He's the cog keeping pieces going. His two-way game is out of this world this season. Kreider and Nash wouldn't look as good as they have without Stepan in the middle.

Don't think the Rangers brass makes any moves until DD is ready to go again. I'd expect to see Pouliot waived that day.

Still think Miller is better suited in Hartford.

Hope Staal is ready to return on Tuesday (wishful) to get DZ, Falk, Moore out of the lineup (in that order).

Hope DZ is dealt for a forward soon.

Wouldn't mind getting McIlrath up here for Tuesday's and Thursday's game. No travel. Give him the cup of coffee in the NHL and see where he's at so far this season. Pack don't play until Friday.

There needs to be a message sent. There need to be changes. The attitude and lack of passion is sickening...

the lack of mental toughness is pathetic. im sure their are 12 year olds that dont give up as much as these guys do.. taking a 2-0 lead in the 1st to Jets or down 3-0 they tend to give up and dont have the mental capacity to play 60 full minutes of NHL Hockey..

Nobody, you are right. But how much do you listen to a guy who you know will be gone next season. If they guy points to you and says you are not playing hard enough or intense enough, while it may be true, you might be saying whatever dude.
