pre-Gorton draft picks and we have been drafting fine in the later rounds.... and how could Prucha still be playing if he was on the Red Wings? maybe another year or two but definitely not now.....

Im saying that if Prucha was drafted by the Wings, that maybe he would have stayed since he would be on a better team instead of going back to europe... i dont get these europeans. if they wanna go back to their country, they should not be able to be drafted. the draft should be for the future of NHL that want to play in the NHL, not to pick up and leave if they dont get the ice time, contract, coach that they want etc etc... tired of these players like Zherdev go back to their country, why even go into the draft :shakehead

Seriously? Those players went back because no one in the NHL wanted them. What are they supposed to do, retire?

There was some talk of RFA Stamkos, before we signed Richards.

Was there ever any indication on that, or pure fan fantasy?

I know it's easy to forget that these are real people and not fictional characters, but seriously? This may be a GREAT job, but it's still a job for them. If you start a job with the biggest company with the best of intentions, and it just doesn't work out, should you be punished for wanting to leave for a better/better paying job elsewhere? Of course not. It would be like me telling you that you should work for me for about half of what you could make elsewhere because my company is more prestigious and has more history.

Just a general question to throw out there....

How do we replace Girardi?

I see alot of people advocating trading him, but who could we realistically get to eat his minutes at a cheaper cost?

It's called going a step or so backwards to go more steps forwards.

Yes, you're right, it is a problem, but it comes with the territory and biting this bullet has to be done if we are not going to lose people for nothing and more importantly, trade them at max value to max increase talent.

Should have traded Girardi while at height of value.
Even if team suffers, trade him now.

In a parallel way, Stepan + for Jones + is way to max value returned.
Of course, you are gambling that Brassard will again return to form.

But either way, point is not to trade top player for top player potential.
Point is to trade top player
for
top player potential +++

so you have reasonable chance to gain from the deal.

I think part of the idea of trading Girardi would be to try and get a puck mover who can play on the right side.

Conor Allen looked good in pre-season as well. He plays the right side.

There are options out there to add a RD if need be.

Profile says he shoots L.

If you can tell me you're SURE he plays RD, which would be great news, I'd take that as reliable.

so, my cousin vinny, in the words of Ms. De Vi to...

"Are you SURE"...

I would be fine with trading both Girardi and Del Zotto, as long as we are able to then extend Staal. Get a decent RHD back in a trade and you can play Falk the rest of the year. We desperately need a scoring LW so that we can push Zucc back to the right side and have him and Callahan as 2/3. I wouldn't even mind Moore as the 3C and Boyle as the 4C.

Kreider Stepan Nash
xxxx Brassard Zuccarello
Hagelin Moore Callahan
Miller Boyle Dorsett

Trading Girardi isn't selling. I put the post about the Bruins and Brad Stuart in the wrong thread. Gorton was part of the Bruins front office when they traded Stuart and Wayne Primeau to Calgary for Ference and Kobasew. Stuart was going to be a free agent and the Bruins couldn't re-sign him. They traded him. Ference became a key part of the team for next 6 years. That wasn't selling. Instead of letting the asset walk out of the door for nothing they traded him. The Rangers have two choices. Give Girardi the contract he wants or trade him. Playing out the season and letting it go to July isn't the answer. The closer he gets to free agency moves him closer to leaving. I heard McKenzie talking about Lundqvist on TSN radio yesterday and the Rangers didn't want it to linger anymore.

So, instead of taking less on just one playa, how 'bout we create bundles?

2 D, a L-R pair.
The synergy ... "whole is greater than the sum of its parts" kind of thing.

Are any of the proposed trades in this thread based in reality, or do people just find the best young players from each team and offer Del Zotto for them?

From what I read Del Zotto is available, but has anyone come out with leaked offers for him?

The Ottawa poo poo platter.

The Rangers need to trade Del Zotto, Pyatt, Pouilott, Moore and possibly Brassard. Dz and Brasard should get you good pieces and the others a low level pick.

They should also try to see if they could anything for the following players:

Bourque
Powe
Spelling
St. Croix

And most importantly, Richards needs to be bought and I am not sure Sather is smart enough to do any.

Besides del zotto, you'll getting nothing of value for our garbage.

who plays center after Richards and brassard are gone? Just curious as to who is available or attainable.

Of course Richards will be bought out but he's the teams leading scorer do he's doing his thing this yr

Why don't we see what the cap situation is like next year before you dump Richards and Brassard. Personally I think DB needs more time. He's had 3 different systems in less than a year.

Agree on the other players but I doubt we get anything of value and Del Zotto we should trade when his value is high - not low.

The team is slow and not built to play any sort of up tempo game. They need major changes and to re-allocate their cap spending. Spend too much on defensive dmen and there won't be enough for forwards. Pick one of Staal or Girardi.

MDZ needs to be moved for a forward and a High end prospect puck mover. Time for change.

It's time to dump more of this dead weight. Pyatt. Pouliot. Boyle. Guys who are one dimensional or too slow for this system and provide little to no offense at all. What's the point? Moore and Dorsett are good speedsters with some grit to their games. 2 is plenty.

What's the long term plan for Zuccarello? Does AV like him? Does he want him to be part of the long term plan in NY?

Brassard?

The team needs an overhaul.

Dead on. Rangers have too many bandaids and square pegs they need to shrug off. A decent amount of the fixes are in Hartford but they need more seasoning.

Need to think younger. The new NHL stresses youth. Young legs. The Rangers need more size and speed. Peverley is a good 3rd line center.

Well how many of those guys in Hartford are probably on their way? Lindberg, Mcilrath, Fast, and Miller are shoe ins. Then you got a guy Kristo who is a 50/50…

Anyone else I'm missing?

So Hedman went down for TB tonight. Brewer is close to returning. Gudas is still out.

MDZ for Connolly + Koekoek

The Rangers get a good young forward with size and a puck mover prospect who is a couple of years away.

Change of scenery for both DZ and Connolly.

Hrivik and Allen look promising. I also think Kantor can be a 4th liner relatively soon. Heart and soul player who likes to hit.

Not all of those guys will make it with the Rangers, let alone the NHL.

Both Hrivik and Fast seem to have some injury issues (both now and in the past).
