Depth. That they need with Staal being injury prone, girardi & Stralman being FAs, and MDZ being probably traded
Other than being a warm body, what does Kulikov bring to the Rangers.

eklund update FWIW "Quick update to last night's rumor. Apparently the Rangers and Canadiens may be coming close to something here. not since the infamous Scott Gomez trade has there been rumors of these teams possibly hooking up.
Full update to come."
You do realize he only just turned 23, right?
Good skater. Likes to hit.
If you can get him for cheap you do it. Especially if compensation is a mid round pick
So he's young and unexceptional? Where do I sign?
My mistake. The only good trades are for superstars.
Sounds like its a trade just for the sake of making a trade, which are usually worthless ones.

Asked on the trade board but I'll ask here too.
Honest question, has Eklund ever broken a deal? I tend to not believe anything that doesn't come from the TSN guys.
The morning is almost over. Where is the trade? Now its the Rangers and Habs. This rumor is from 2 weeks ago. Adam Graves has been scouting the Habs. Mark Mowers has been scouting the Rangers. A french reporter tweeted the Rangers and Habs were discussing a deal on the morning of the Vancouver game.
Churn, churn, churn.
You know who else is only 23? Michael Del Zotto.

They better not be trying for Prust to try and re-kindle past success.
You must be confused.
Mid round pick for a decent young DMan.
Bad trade because MDZ is also a decent young DMan?
How do you figure?
You add as much depth as you can. If you can get kulikov cheap, you do it. Chances are you aren't going to find a guy who can play at all in the mid rounds of the draft.

If kulikov can be as capable as MDZ, and you move MDZ for an offensive player, then that absolutely is a positive for the team
I would like to think Dorsett essentially replaced Prust.
We aren't getting Kulikov for a mid round pick. His value is at least equal to MDZ's right now, which means that if you are trading MDZ and bringing in Kulikov, it's a wash.
