They have like 9 NHL dmen when healthy. Not sure they need another. Maybe Girardi, but IDK.

Edmonton just makes too much sense in terms of their need, but who would they realistically give up?

considering they dont actually play Yakupov...

Nail Yakupov played less minutes than Ryan Jones tonight for Edmonton, yet had the most shots. That's just, wow.

Have fun with that.

I think he pretty consistently is the least played offensive player on that team.

He gets what, 12-15 minutes a game?

It's even crazier in contrast to this game, Eberle, RNH, Hall, and even ****ing Ryan Smyth played 20+ minutes.

On a team that needed to score goals and were chasing the Ducks most of the game, Boyd Gordon was given more TOI than Yakupov.

I don't know what the hell Eakins' deal is with the kid.

I dont know either, and Im not going to argue that hes a complete player or anything, he certainly isnt.

But there is just so much talent every time you watch him, his skating ability, his one timer, etc.

I would be surprised if the Oilers didnt move him.

Yakupov reminds me of Kessel. I doubt they move him...

I just don't see him as untouchable. It's getting ridiculous at this point, if your team needs a goal and you give minutes to someone like Ryan Smyth, you're a terrible ****ing coach or something else is going on here.

Who would Edmonton rather move? Eakins seems to be enamored with most of the "core", except Yakupov. They all get a lot more minutes than him. It's just not a coincidence anymore. I can't believe he hasn't been traded yet.

And if I'm an Edmonton fan or MacT, I would want someone like DZ asap. I can't imagine having to watch a top pair as ****ing terrible as Ference-Petry. I'd claw my eyes out.

I think guys like Callahan and Girardi could slot into Edmonton's lineup and with some help make them into a very scary team in the near future. Their skill forwards are legit - they just don't have enough, well, "Torts guys" to prop them up. The trouble is getting them to buy into that when they can get the same/more money from actual contenders.

They could ice three lines of Brassards if they somehow wanted to and while MDZ would be nice, Callahan, Girardi and Staal would be much nicer. The contract status of the first two will probably prevent us from making The Great Yakupov Deal in the Sky.

I think cally + girardi might be too much for yakupov at this point. Can't imagine yakupov has much value with almost no offensive output this year combined with benchings, him threatening to move to Russia and everything else.

I do agree that cally or girardi would be a great fit there.

MDZ as well would fit quite well as they want to play that quick transition game. If they could get MDZ back to making those great up ice passes he would be a gem for them

Eklund has 100% precision. Take anything he reports, think of the exact opposite, and it happens 100% of the time.

That being said, I think Girardi for ROR would be an excellent trade for both teams.

if by excellent u mean getting dicked over from an avs perspective.

I mean a regressing defender who's going to command more money than he's worth for more years than he should get for a position we need, top 6 center, with the personality we want brought in (grit, toughness), for years to come seems pretty fair to me..

edit: oh, i misread. let me explain why it makes sense for them. they need a defensive anchor who can mentor their players. he's now been to the playoffs far more times than most of their players. they need a veteran with that type of experience. they need a consistent d-man. girardi in another system won't do as badly as he will for AV... not that he's done poorly, but his play has noticeably been shaky this year. a change in a system closer to Torts' will help him look more dominant and be more dominant.

I'll say again... I really, really think we should be talking to EDM about Yakupov. Remember when Stamkos was struggling his rookie year? These are the times to get young superstars, if they are in the conversation for trade.

Agree. Just depends on the asking price. If it's something like MDZ and a 2nd round pick I think you have to make that trade

If anyone would know about a Rangers trade... Dagoon? Where ya at buddy. I'm sure he'd have great insight on the validity of this.
