Because if the Oilers can’t fix their problems exactly the way they want they lose their minds.

Don’t forget that the only goaltender of note that moved today was a shitty one.
The best goalies are generally the ones on teams who win more.

I’ll bet all of the NHL goalies would look trashy on some of the worst defensive coverage teams.

It's only the way that every statistical measure told us was going to improve the team.

You guys are upset with fans who want to improve the team enough to be competitive, especially while said team is playing its worst hockey in years?

It was not a good deadline at all, agreed. Having a temper tantrum on a public forum that would make a 5 year old embarrassed is just cringe.

It's not a tantrum, just an accurate observation with a side of sass ;) Sorry if it hit a little close to home.

No goalie added = EPIC FAIL.
Not having a plan B, C, or D after failing to acquire Rantanen for a top 6 winger = EPIC FAIL
No 4C = EPIC FAIL

Frederic and Walman were good adds but this shit isn’t all in compared to Colorado, Dallas, and Florida.

f*** off Bowman

Stan Bowman is a

I want to establish that the time I am writing with is not intended to be argumentative!

Which RHD would we have wanted? Ristolinen? There was a lot of competition for these guys and I think we got an excellent player regardless.

2 top 6 wingers is a total pipe dream. We have to hope Kane is effective, and that some of the new guys get some traction.

A goalie for sure would have been great, but throwing a new guy (in our price range assets & cap wise) wasn’t going to materialize.

Plus our current #1 literally was 2 goals away from raising the cup.

I know it’s hard to feel left out, but spending huge assets on players who might not be an improvement has fooled us before.

(Look at how many of us approved of Skinner & Arv over Holloway and Broberg
I’m not saying we should have got all of them. I’m saying it’s impressive to not even hit on ONE of the things you needed.
We did get a good player but now we are forcing guys to play their off side which none of them have done all that much which is a risk on its own.

Yeah didn’t need 2 top 6 wingers but we didn’t even get one.

Our current #1 was definitely there with us last year but he is markedly worse this year.

Last year is all fine and dandy but you have to look at how your guys are playing. Our goaltending as a whole is worse.

Eddie Mio and Dave Dryden would be upgrades, even though they are 75+ years old.
I thought about Jacques Plante this week. heh

WHA was a lot of fun and even in yrs the team wasn't bad it only cost anywhere from 3-7bucks to get in. You were guaranteed something interesting moments in that league anyway.

Tell ya. Quebec Nordiques had a better club in WHA, and much more entertaining than the Habs team that shuffled in last night.

Anytime the Houston Aeros, Jets Nordiques or New England were coming into town you were seeing talent out there.

Oilers had a boring lineup until Gretz came, truth be told. There was Jim Harrison before that. I once did a thread here on him being the Oilers first ever Star player.

Not at all close to home. I'd give them a D for the effort personally. I just like to act my age. Maybe you just like to as well?

How does getting a top 4 Dman and fixing our bottom six make you give us an F.

We have 4 top 4 Dmen for the first time for a decade for crying out loud.

Kane may be back for the playoffs too. You guys are seriously insane. Making gargantuan trades like what Colorado, Dallas etc did doesn't mean you win the Cup.

We made huge changes on July 1st. So did Nashville. How did that treat us and them?

We pretty clearly failed to execute our plan, too many balls in the air and it just all evaporated.

We lost Holloway and Broberg so we could accrue cap. We played with a short roster all year to accrue cap. We spent extra assets on Frederic to minimize our cap hit.

Now we're like 3 million under the cap?

It's frankly just kind of unacceptable.

Name the last team that made a big add at TDL that won the cup.?

Bowman saying he spent like the entire year trying to get Walman, so much so Grier probably was tired of talking to him.
Geez maybe we should have had him named as a GM when we could have been paid to take Walman for free. Instead Jackson was too busy watching the team someone else built play in the finals.

What a slap in the face for McDrai, not to mention the fanbase. No Stanley Cup this year folks, Bowman wins the title of worst GM in team history. Skinner and Picard, what a nightmare.
Maybe they talked to them about goaltending and that isn’t what they said.

Then if they did something that would be a slap in the face?

Tampa: Bjorkstrand, Gourde
Panthers: S.Jones, Marchand
Stars: Grandlund, Rantanen
Avs: Nelson, Coyle
Leafs Laughton, Carlo

That's 5 teams that had a better deadline than the Oilers. After the atrocious offseason that JJ put us in we couldn't afford to have 5 teams have a better deadline than us.
Is Laughton and Carlo and Bjorkstrand and Gourde (especially considering the prices) better? Those teams gave up multiple 1sts for players that will arguably have similar impact to the Oilers players, the Toronto duo in particular. I know that everything is very end of the world with you guys right now and I get why everybody is upset as it wasn't a stellar deadline but it's not as dire as some are making it out to be.

They’re are dumb posts on here but this is outrageously stupid. How does adding Walman, Frederic and Jones make us worse?
Because we are in a win now Window and 5 teams got better than us. Sometimes you need to pay up to win.

We are in a worse spot now than we were 2 weeks ago. That is fact
