They spent the WHOLE season talking about how they would use it and they didn't. They are fraudsNo reason not to use the 3M left in LTIR
Except the "doom and gloom" scenario did come to pass. So... what now? Are you changing your tune on Bowman and Jackson? Good thing you don't have, like, dozens of posts defending them both.
“I try and look at things for the goalies on a bigger sample”
Yeah, the big sample is we have bad goaltending. That’s the broad sample you moron.
Our biggest needs were 2 top 6 wingers, a right side d, goalie, right shot 4c.Why is everyone so upset here?
We got a good dman, and some forward depth. We were never going to get Rantanen…
All of the goalies available were going to be expensive, and adding 10 new players isn’t going to work.
Pretty tough to bring him back any sooner after trying to spend his LTIR cap dough. You know that Gary will be livid with that move.So why was this sent after the deadline? Really strange this wasn't sent out weeks ago.
RELEASE: Oilers provide Evander Kane update | Edmonton Oilers
EDMONTON, AB – The Edmonton Oilers have released the following statement regarding Evander Kane:
After further consultation with team medical staff, it has been determined that forward Evander Kane will not be ready to return to action for the remainder of the 2024-25 regular season. As a result, he will remain on LTIR (long-term injured reserve).
Kane underwent successful abdominal surgery last September. His rehabilitation continues to take place in Edmonton under the supervision of the club's medical staff.
The 33-year-old scored 24 goals and 20 assists in 77 regular season games last year, followed by four goals and four assists in 20 appearances during the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
What are you talking about man? Emberson has been fantastic and will only improve. Walman has played on the top pair on his last two teams. Not even the top 4 the top pair.We have 3 top 4 LD and only 2 top 4 LD spots. Jake Walman as a legit top 4 D is also a bit of a question mark. Just because he's played there on terrible teams doesn't mean he's actually a genuine top 4 D. We were sold a bill of goods on Emberson too coming out of San Jose.
Because if the Oilers can’t fix their problems exactly the way they want they lose their minds. Why is everyone so upset here?

of course this was a failure....but the failure was back in the summer
Emberson is barely passable #6 d-man. Worst goals against/60 on the team. What are you talking about man? Emberson has been fantastic and will only improve. Walman has played on the top pair on his last two teams. Not even the top 4 the top pair.
Oilers "made a serious offer" for Rantanen, but he wasn't interested in signing an extension apparently
True, I really wanted Blackwood. And they have done very little (including the draft) to address it. After watching Skinner for awhile now, it is very apparent he has significant flaws in his game…glaringly bad lateral movement and can’t recover/refocus after giving up a weak goal.Better ask Colorado how they managed to get it done.
Here's an idea... don't sit on the problem that has been apparent since last playoffs.
If the price of food is expensive, do you just never eat in hopes it comes down? Or do you eventually say "well the price is what it is" and eat?Why is everyone so upset here?

Eddie Mio and Dave Dryden would be upgrades, even though they are 75+ years old. When the Oilers Joined the NHL in 1979 as per merger and NHL draft rules the Oilers were allowed to keep only 2 skaters and 2 goalies.
Somehow almost half century later this roster reminds me of that.
The Oilers have had McD and Drai for over a decade now and observe how little they added to that.
