Server changes were implemented recently to cope with the traffic surge last week. This seems to be affecting the user login, so please anyone experiencing this, log out and clear the browser cache. We expect to have this issue solved once the maintenance is complete.

some people prefer not to get upset or mad until something actually happens, unlike many here who make up scenarios and lose their shit over it.

Except the "doom and gloom" scenario did come to pass. So... what now? Are you changing your tune on Bowman and Jackson? Good thing you don't have, like, dozens of posts defending them both.

How does getting a top 4 Dman and fixing our bottom six make you give us an F.

We have 4 top 4 Dmen for the first time for a decade for crying out loud.

Kane may be back for the playoffs too. You guys are seriously insane. Making gargantuan trades like what Colorado, Dallas etc did doesn't mean you win the Cup.

We made huge changes on July 1st. So did Nashville. How did that treat us and them?

It's that "Special Moment of the Month" for HFOil once more. They just need to vent it all out. I'm sick of it too, but I won't let it bother me.

Time to load up Mcdrai for 30 mins a game. The management of this team is excruciating.

Sick of the Mcdrai stack with the rest of the lines getting 10 mins.

So with Kane on LTIR did we actually do anything with the cap space?

Or is Bowman just a moron?
So they didn't do much, Walman takes up some of it, but I think they're going to have a lot of bodies in Edmonton. Run the full 23 man roster, with Jones staying up and having 8 defensemen.

So we basically left almost 3 million of Kane'a LTIR on the table. That's a fireable offence.
They accrued the space to try and take a swing at a big fish like Rantanen, but couldn't come up with the assets. And why is that? Because for years, this organization has completely pillaged and plundered the prospect pool to either bring aboard these washed up, overpaid vets while simultaneously at times using same prospect pool to divest themselves of bad contracts. Further to that, they have not prioritized drafting and development at all for many years, and it has resulted in so many whiffs on plugs and never-beens, while subsequent picks (sometimes right after the Oilers' selections) ended up in very successful, productive NHL players for other organizations.

Just.. how incompetent has the front office been, for many years now in spite of wholesale changes? Fools, OBC types coasting on their their faded glory, out and out morons, manning the management desks, the scouting departments (amateur and pro)...

You still dont bitch about it until its over. I've always said the time to be upset is after the TDL, i've been incredibly consistent on that.

i already gave the grade of F for the TDL

we addressed no needs.

Wondering which specific top forward other than Rantanen or Nelson we were going to get to upgrade our top 6
Its hard to say but we can't overrate some of the acquisitions by other clubs.

Florida picks up Marchant but in watching the 4 Nations tournament it was obvious he is not the player he was even a few seasons ago.

As I said before--all is not lost in the season. I'm not justifying the incompetence we have seen here but the Oilers will still be heard from.

So why was this sent after the deadline? Really strange this wasn't sent out weeks ago.

RELEASE: Oilers provide Evander Kane update | Edmonton Oilers

EDMONTON, AB – The Edmonton Oilers have released the following statement regarding Evander Kane:

After further consultation with team medical staff, it has been determined that forward Evander Kane will not be ready to return to action for the remainder of the 2024-25 regular season. As a result, he will remain on LTIR (long-term injured reserve).

Kane underwent successful abdominal surgery last September. His rehabilitation continues to take place in Edmonton under the supervision of the club's medical staff.

The 33-year-old scored 24 goals and 20 assists in 77 regular season games last year, followed by four goals and four assists in 20 appearances during the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

I think that could largely be usage. He wasn't exactly a offensive juggernaut at centre in the playoffs either. I think he's better suited as a complementary scoring winger at this point in his career. I think they should definitely try him out with McDavid or Leon in the last 20 games to see if he fits better there.

With Nuge and Frederic both able to play centre they have other options at 3C.
Except. Being able to play center isn’t being good at center. You need your third line center to be able to win faceoffs. Both things neither guy is good at.

Congratulations to all of the supporters of management in this thread, they're the real winners of this trade deadline.

The losers are all the people who just hours ago were begging for a goalie, then like the cowards they are, totally flipped their takes because a razor-thin majority of delusional homers with tribal brains bullied them into it.
I’m still standing tall here with you, I’m just saddled at work and could only catch up on what was going on during breaks. I expected them to not address the goaltending and I’m still disappointed.

The vocal anti-Skinner guys like us and @TB12 (there’s more I know) will either be proven very right this spring or very wrong. I’ll eat my crow if we’re wrong but I have zero faith or trust in the goaltending to get them very far.

of course this was a failure....but the failure was back in the summer
Correct.

Letting Holloway go for $2.2m was complete incompetence, not just signing Skinner and Arvidsson (and I admittedly liked the Arvidsson signing) but giving them NMC's, as well as Henrique, and thus handcuffing them this deadline once they filled the LTIR pool with the Walman acquisition which I think the fanbase will really like when they see him play once the anger subsides. But still, this was never going to be a big splash deadline because of what transpired in the summer. The NMCs and letting Holloway walk, inexcusable.

I do think Oiler fans will like Walman and Frederic once they're out there playing. Frederic in particular is the type of player that this fanbase tends to gravitate to.
