So either the kid isn't Bernier's or he's getting traded?

I'd be fine with Bernier or Talbot and Scrivens, I don't want to pay twice to acquire a goalie, I believe in Scrivens character enough that he is likely to have a bounce back season and be atleast a semi-capable back-up.

Not that I watch that hockey wives show, but in the 5 mins I did catch Bernier's girlfriend mentioned she wouldn't be surprised if he was traded because he had a poor season last year.

Unrelated but still goalie talk. I hear people talking about Dubnyk wanting 5mil and that it's a lot. The sad thing is we were paying him 3.75 when he left here. 5mil really doesn't seem to be a stretch considering what the guy did this past year.

Scrivens seems to a barely capable back-up and was just god awful last year, cut bait and move one with new goalies.

Frankly the fact the Dubnyk hasn't signed yet tells me all I need to know about his player. He had a few good months after almost being finished, and now he deserved to "get paid" I suspect Minnesota goes in a different direction and Devan's left hangin.

Dubnyk will sign in Minnesota for less.

He has to start high and give it his best shot, this is probably the only opportunity he will have to cash in.

 Sorry but I always laugh when people judge a player's character based on them holding out for a better contract. We don't even know what the Wild have offered Dubnyk, but its his agent's job to get him the best contract he can. Professional athletes are under the gun to make as much money as they can while they're still employable, can't fault a guy for that.

Is asking for 5mil that far fetched at this point? Niemi is looking for 6. DD could very well sign for 4-4.5mil, not horrid.

I think a package centering around Draistal+ for Bernier and #4 could be a deal worth taking a risk on. We potentially get Hanifin and if not we take Strome.

Exactly. Can't blame him for trying to maximize. Whoever signs him to it is responsible for the team. Dubnyk is responsible for his best interests.

Same as how you can't blame Horcoff for taking his contract. Who wouldn't?

Minny's real problem is lack of cap space and having Backstrom currently on the books.

Toronto isn't doing that. That's worse than the offer of LD and Marincin for Bernier and the 4th, and that wasn't a good offer either.

You bet, but you know, he was almost out of the league just a few short months ago, so he's not so established that he should act entitled to a bunch of cash.

There's very little to suggest that Ramo or Niemi couldn't do what Dubnyk did in Minnesota.

He should push for a deal, but he shouldn't forget where he is as a player, basically one bad year from being done.

Leafs wouldn't do that deal, but if they did and Hanifin wasn't on the board then the oilers would probably look at Provorov. Swapping Drai for Strome is pointless.

Everyone seems to want to trade their goalie to us for the 16th. I hope Chia is smarter than that. I would rather use the pick than trade it for any goalie rumoured to be available(I don't consider Gibson to be available).

33rd + for a goalie sure. 16th? Not a chance in hell.

I agree with this, but I think Draisatl's value gets undervalued a lot.

I also share the opinion of not wanting to trade our #16 for a goalie. Unless that goalie is of Gibson like caliber, no thank you.
