Am I the only one who gets annoyed all these "we are not winning this year" and "we are just not that good" posts? Then shut the games off and don't watch. There is a reason sports is exciting ... it is not predetermined. Anything can happen. The most stacked team doesn't always win, the favorite doesn't always win.

You explained them earlier, and I wasn't really impressed by anything of them.

Oh I know, because you like the other guy, have it all figured it out. The facts don't matter, only what you think. Forget their injury woes on defense. Not important.

Why are some people even fans. Why waste your time?

The St. Louis Blues, just one of the many teams in the West head and shoulders above the Rangers on every level, just added an elite goaltender and even MORE size and grit to what they already had. Now, imagine what Anaheim, LA, San Jose, Chicago in the West and Boston and Pittsburgh will do to improve. Yet, 38 year old microscopic St. Louis (minus the picks, and prospects, and depth players it would cost us) is going to magically get us a Cup? Maybe some parent confuses him for an infant and buys him a Lego Movie cup from McDonalds...that cup?

Rangers vs Blues

Goaltending- advantage Rangers

Offense - (with MSL) advantage Rangers

Defense - Close call..

Special teams - with MSL, advantage Rangers..

Size - Advantage Blues

Not so sure why you'd put St. Louis "head and shoulders" above the Rangers. Sure they're bigger, but a size chart doesn't equate to wins.. Again that's my take on the match up, I'm sure a Blues fan would see it differently..

You seriously believe either of them will be eliminated by the second round? If we get that far, that's where we face Pittsburgh. You REALLY believe we, even if we add St. Louis, can beat Crosby, Malkin, Neil, Kunitz, so on, in a 7 game series?

With their suspect goalie and defense? Yes.

Boston honestly scares me a bit more in the playoffs.

IIRC, I was the one posting facts. Is Dan Girardi gonna chip in enough points to backup McDonagh? Will even McDonagh continue putting up points in the playoffs? Is Derek Stepan going to, not only suddenly become at least a DECENT playoff performer, but do it through 4 rounds? I'm going to root for them just as hard as any of you. Will having your Top 2 centers SUCK on Faceoffs not bite you in the ass?

Last year, Beav and Step had a combined 6 points in 22 combined games. Forgive me for not having faith in them, especially when people have been *****ing about Stepan ALL YEAR.

I guess Chicago, that we beat twice, is "one of the many teams in the West head and shoulders above the Rangers on every level"?

The West is the last thing the Rangers have to worry about right now. If they get to that point, I think everyone in this forum will be very, very happy.

Do i really need to explain the difference between a regular season game, one right after a month long Olynpic break, in which we got two shots on goal in the third period, and needed a miracle save by our backup goaltender to win, and a seven game series?

I think the chances that the road to the SCF not going through both of them is a lot smaller than the chances that it does.

A team with Crosby, Malkin, Neil, Kunitz and so on lost to Ilya Bryzgalov and the Flyers in an embarrassing fashion, so...

I think MZA being hurt is a blessing in disguise. See where JT is at after this weekend. Do they think he somewhat replace Callys ES production?

If he can, Sather should go all in on future assets (high end prospect + pick). If not, try and package together a deal for MSL or one centered around roster player + pick/prospect.

I think he has taken the "Chris Stewart and a 2nd" kind of move out of contention even if he's not at Cally's level yet. We don't need an average NHL roster spare coming back because he probably already is that.

I don't see how hanging onto the kind of midround pick/middling prospect soup that looks like it might just swing this thing makes us more likely to win a Cup in the future than Marty St. Louis does in the next two years. I just don't. We're not in Steve Yzerman's head so this is all kind of an academic debate, but I usually understand the other side of arguments like these even if I don't agree.

I would say a team that has

Kreider-Stepan-Nash
Zucc-Richards-MSL
Hagelin-Brassard-Miller
Boyle-Moore-Dorsett

Mcdonagh/Girardi, Staal/Stralman, Moore/Klein with the best goalie in the world can compete (maybe not beat) but compete with almost any team. but its all about giving yourself the best chance to win.

and Fleury. Yes, we can beat anybody in a 7 game series. What is wrong with people? It's not just you, it's a lot of you.

It's like your strategy is "expect the worst, and if anything good happens celebrate the miracle." You have to believe in your team. What fun is following sports if you don't believe your team can win? I'm not saying be delusional, but damn, be a fan.

You add St. Louis you could have someone saying "Do you really think we could beat Nash, St. Louis, McDonagh, Lundqvist, so on, in a 7 game series?"

IIRC, I was the one posting facts.

That others refuted for me because the stats you posted showed very small differences between the teams. This team got off to a very slow start under a new coach and new system. That doesn't matter though...

I'm concerned with now. Not October.

Don't presume you can tell others what to believe, feel, and do.

I'm as big a fan as anyone else. But there is a line between goggle wearing fandom and being realistic.

Two things.

1. We didn't need the save to win. If they scored, it would have tied the game. They need the goal to TIE.

2. Thanks for emphasizing that we beat Chicago with our backup goaltender.

Your point is made, very well I might add.

I'm sorry I didn't realize two months of great play was goggle wearing fandom. Especially when it is the most important part of the year.

And there's a line between realism and outright cynicism. That line is here. You're wayyyyyyyyyyyy over there, dude.

there is also 4 months until a stanley cup winner is crowned...

all you have to do is get into the playoffs.. then anything is possible.. injuries play a huge part in the playoffs.. no one can predict who will be hurt, who is playing with major injuries and the like..

so say the rangers have no chance is pretty much idiotic.

very solid d, very solid goalie, streaky forwards.. who knows how they will play in the playoffs.

I'm definitely annoyed. Rangers fans need a friggin 109 point season to have any faith in their team and not say it's garbage and needs to be rebuilt. :shakehead

They lost. Period. Each team cam back from a "month long Olynpic break" and we were defending a lead.

Chicago is better. Rangers are better than you give them credit for. If each makes it to the finals I think you'd be surprised by how close the series is. Rangers 6D are top 5 in the league.

This type of post is unacceptable. [sarcasm]. According to some here, you're a goggle wearing fan. "Anything can happen" is not true. We are not winning the Cup. Check back in October. Don't bother watching anymore. Season is over.

Lol, ok. Winning games by the skin of your teeth isn't how you win a championship. It would take a miracle run.

There it is. The old "anything is possible" that Sather has lived off of.
