Sources say Ryan Kesler requested a trade some time ago & wants out of Vcr. Told #Canucks don't want to trade him but may not have a choice.

I don't want us to trade for Ott because he doesn't give us anything we don't already have but I want to hear overs/unders on how many main board threads a Carcillo-Ott-Dorsett line would inspire

This deadline is shaping up to be one of the most interesting ones in what seems like forever.

Ott adds speed and can win faceoffs. our centers outside of Boyle is horrible at faceoffs percentage wise.... one reason I wish Lindberg was given a chance and called up. he was good in the SEL...

does Brooks ever have a clue whats going on? anything that seems good for the Rangers, Brooks always tries to be pessimistic about it.

How is trading Callahan + prospect(s) + pick(s) for a 38 year old who becomes an unrestricted free agent in one year, good for the Rangers? Other than for some dilusionnof granduer that this team will magically beat the true contenders in the league.

No size on the wings, no size in the middle, and yet, somehow they would beat Boston, Pittsburgh, and one of Anaheim, Chicago, LA, St. Louis, San Jose...

Or...the Rangers can do what is correct, what real successful clubs do, and trade their two prized UFA to be chips (or one of them) for a young roster player + prospect + pick and continue building towards being on a level where they can realistically contend.

St. Louis does not make this a Stanley Cup contender. This isn't a vacuum. The REAL contenders wouod still be better and they are also going to improve at the deadline.

who is ott replacing. we already have a logjam of bottom 6 forwards and i like the guy.

He's also going to cost a pretty penny from our future. He will return a 1st.

i can see a three way trade

St. Louis to Rangers

Stewart prospect/1st to TBL

Callahan to STL

if a guywants a trade, you dont want that cloud over a team.. it will and can hurt the team long term.. i think rangers ultimately get st louis

edit: Mckenzie said g was close to signing.. Larry broooks said rangers met gs demands of a 6 yrs 5.5m aav, but "he has cold feet, and wants to hold off on signing" then goes into saying that callahan and g will team up and sign with the same team bc both wives are close friends and they both played together since OHL days.. Pure speculation and just adding a wrinkle in things to get clicks and sell papers.. but nyr wont let g go.. and if he goes you can expect a huge return thats for sure..

What the **** does size have to do with winning?

Since 2000, 5 forwards have won the Conn Smythe

6'3
6'2
6'0
5'11
5'10

Sure looks like size is super important for being a great player

ok lets ****ing do this. callahan plus a 2nd for kesler. skjei and brassard for st louis.

hags steps nash
kreider richie st louis
pouliot kesler zucc
domination

For those that are inevitably going to push for a Callahan-for-Kesler swap, @KatieStrangESPN reported that Cally & Torts had a falling out.

Katie Strang ‏@KatieStrangESPN 2m

@Herman_NYRBlog @lindacohn Wouldn't say falling out. Don't think he fought for him to stay. Not sure he'd go play for him if given choice

Apparently Torts - Cally may be somewhat on the rocks.

I could see Callahan + conditional pick for Kesler. That makes a lot more sense. Kesler played well for AV. The Rangers need a big center. He fills multiple needs. Signed.

Callahan played his best hockey with Torts. Adds physicality and grit that he likes.

That makes more sense than St Louis

I would essentially agree with your main point. I don't think Stepan/Richards are #1/#2s on a Cup winner. Stepan so far has played like a 3rd liner (who can't take face-offs) in the playoffs.

It's just funny. People wanted to tank at 2 separate times this season, and now everyone gets their knickers all twisted if you don't think this team can win a Cup.
