Chicago needs a 2c. Just saying

Ryan Callahan to St. Louis for Chris Stewart + Jordan Schmaltz

Brian Boyle + Anton Stralman + Jordan Schmaltz + pick to Chicago for Jeremy Morin + Adam Clendening

Kreider - Stepan - Nash
Morin - Richards - Stewart
Pouliot - Brassard - Zuccarello
Hagelin - Moore - Miller/Carcillo/Dorsett

McDonagh - Girardi
Staal - Clendening
Moore - Klein

Size on the wings, PPQB.

ok lets ****ing do this. callahan plus a 2nd for kesler. skjei and brassard for st louis.

hags steps nash
kreider richie st louis
pouliot kesler zucc
domination

dude if we can get kesler for callahan, brassard and a prospect/1st.. id do that any day of the week...

kesler
Stepan
Richards

solid for this year and future

well worth it, we can dream though

How is trading Callahan + prospect(s) + pick(s) for a 38 year old who becomes an unrestricted free agent in one year, good for the Rangers? Other than for some dilusionnof granduer that this team will magically beat the true contenders in the league.

No size on the wings, no size in the middle, and yet, somehow they would beat Boston, Pittsburgh, and one of Anaheim, Chicago, LA, St. Louis, San Jose...

Or...the Rangers can do what is correct, what real successful clubs do, and trade their two prized UFA to be chips (or one of them) for a young roster player + prospect + pick and continue building towards being on a level where they can realistically contend.

St. Louis does not make this a Stanley Cup contender. This isn't a vacuum. The REAL contenders wouod still be better and they are also going to improve at the deadline.

No size on the wings?! Kreider, Nash, Boyle and Pouliet say hello.

If the deal is Callahan + a non 1st round pick and/or not a top tier prospect it makes this team better then it is today. Also gives them flexibility in the future as they are not locked into paying Callahan $6.75 million or more for the next 7 years. MSL is a physical freak of nature and will be able to play at a high level into his early 40s a LA Jagr and Selanne.

It wouldn't be outlandish to say MSL will be more productive/overall contributor is three years then Callahan.

Everybody had a falling out with Torts. When his coaching career is over he won't be allowed to be within a mile of any hockey rink in North America with all the bridges he has burned.

Wouldn't it be crazy if the Rangers were able to add Kesler and St. Louis at this deadline. Both have term and fill needs. Resign Girardi. Use the assets from Callahan to get one of them.

What the **** does size have to do with winning?

Since 2000, 5 forwards have won the Conn Smythe

6'3
6'2
6'0
5'11
5'10

Sure looks like size is super important for being a great player

Clearly the only important player on a cup winning team is the conn smythe winner, right (not to mention you've lumped goalies in there).

Size has a lot to do with being a cup winner. Pretty easy to see that. We don't have a lot of size on our team at all, regardless of who would win the conn smythe.

We also won't come close to winning a cup with Stepan and Richards as our top 2 centers. Kesler would be the better option here.

Just no.

1. No, but he's the most important. And no, I haven't included goalies.

2. We're average in size league wide. See what I said before about St. Louis. If we don't have a chance to win, they shouldn't even be in the playoffs according to 'the importance of size'

Apparently Torts - Cally may be somewhat on the rocks.

If true, Cally totally misjudged the coaching situation - he was tailor-made for Torts style of play and his role has definitely been diminished under AV. Del Zotto made the same mistake. These players are seemingly out of touch with what their capabilities/roles are.

That's one of the worst trades I've seen on here in a while.

have people looked at Kesler lately? 49 points 2 years ago, missed almost the whole season last year, and has only 38 points this year.. we want this guy as our 1C? and we complain about Stepan?

I'm not saying I'd be against Kesler, but I think people are remembering the Ryan Kesler from 3 years ago...

Seriously. At this point, he's not much different than Stepan, but he's older, more expensive and more fragile.

And how does this team not have size? Nash, Kreider, Boyle, Pouliot, Staal, McD, Girardi, Klein...

Del Zotto should have had a chance to push on with AV, he was just playing poorly. I like him and I hope he finds his game but we were probably right to trade him for a generic NHL depth player.

It's not the ONLY thing that matters. Being average sized and average FO's will show in the playoffs.

Get you are right he's been hurt but if they go Kesler , stepan, miller at c next yr I'm ok w that. Buyout Richards , I'm assuming brassard plus for Kesler

1) That's certainly debatable. The playoffs are a long haul and the CS winner is not always as clear as you're making seem. Add to that, that maybe St. Louis could win a CS, but he's gonig to have bigger guys around him.

2) Average, sure, but most of our big guys don't play big. Are you really going to tell me Rick Nash plays to his size, or even remotely close? Doesn't have have like under 10 hits this year? We have a few guys that bang bodies (Boyle, Carcillo, Pouliot [pleasantly surprised]) but they aren't bangers that drive you through the playoffs. You need an Ott, Neil, Lucic, etc. Having size with guys like Stralman and Nash really doesn't mean anything. It's how you use that size and assuming we're sending away Callahan, one of our best hitters, that leaves an even larger gap in that area.

I would imagine this goes until at least the 5th... Yzerman will hold out as long as he can.

Sather will probably let him know that waiting until after the 5th and his offer will be lower (St. Louis older, 1 less playoff, etc).
