This all makes sense Kesler wants out of Vancouver and probably has since Torts came in. He knows there is a 99.9 percent chance we move Callahan and thats why he speaks up and says now that he wants out. He knows Torts would probably love to bring Cally in to his system and sees that he has a good chance of landing in NY and playing for AV again. I think there is a better chance of us seeing Kesler than St. Louis in the Big Apple

I could totally seeing Kesler wanting the rangers, I don't know if the rangers want him enough to give what it will cost money wise going forward, asset wise now

Funny how St. Louis almost feels like more of a sure thing at 38

I would LOVE Sami Vatanen on this team. That's exactly the type of young, puck moving D-Man we've been clamoring for. His size isn't ideal but it doesn't prevent him from being a very effective player. If you could get him and a pick for Girardi, I would do it no doubt. Gotta consider the value of acquiring Vatanen on that contract.

but his size and solid 2way game would be amazing for us.. he was the one player when watching the olympics was someone i thought played such a solid game, and at times looked the best out there for usa.. we need a tru top 6 center, and getting him would help us a lot.. hes signed for 2 more years at 5m aav, which is an awesome deal

Basically you're saying Girardi + Callahan (albeit to separate teams) for MSL. Yeah that's 100% not happening. But Vatanen seems like a good piece.

I've been watching all this from the background for a while, it'll definitely be interesting to see how it all shakes out. LGR

Yeah, but he doesn't belong there. He looked great in the Olympics and earned that Bronze medal he got to take home.

Yes, to make room for Fistric. He was one of two defensemen with 2-way contracts (the other being Hampus Lindholm) and so he was sent down.

'Course, I'd probably rather have Vatanen than Fistric, but that's just me.

You're probably referencing Girardi's role with us, but Vatanen is a RHD.

Imo, only way Girardi is moved for Vatanen is if Ottowa's first is in play, and if that is the case I'm on board. If Sather was willing to let whatever team negotiate with Callahans agent before trading him than he could let Anaheim do the same, a sign and trade makes sense that's the only way we can get that first.
