Who slots in as top pairing right D in this scenario? Klein? Stralman? McDonagh (with Staal)? Vatanen?

NO nope worth it. Man this is beginning to seem like Girardi won't sign for a good rate if callahan is leaving. That's my boys. Thats loyalty, I bet you Staal is behind it as well, I bet it will make a huge difference to him when it comes to him making a decision.

Im telling you guys now, like Ive told the people on Carp's site. Im done if all three are gone. Callahan/Girardi/Staal I love Hank, I love Mac, I love Step, I love Hags, I love Boyle. I like the rest of the guys on the team, I like some of them a lot , I dislike no one on the team.

But I'm not following this team anymore if all three are gone. No ****ing way, its the sword I fall on.

I mean this in the nicest possible way, but I don't think you not watching anymore would really effect anyone but yourself.

Also, I don't know how you can possibly hold this against the team. Callahan is demanding a disgusting contract. G was demanding a reasonable one, then NYR met it, and now it might not be enough for him. These guys aren't bigger than the franchise. They can't hold it hostage only to be overpaid and eventually drag it down.

I love both these players as Rangers, but if they want to rob a franchise for the next 6 years, especially together, I prefer that they do it somewhere else.

If we're going to let emotion get involved, where is the loyalty here? From either guy? Girardi wasn't even drafted, NYR gave him a shot, and now he's a very wealthy man who is a top pairing d in the NHL. Callahan, despite not being a huge offensive presence, rose up the ranks about as quickly as possible here, and was eventually named captain of this original six franchise. Now, they both can demand whatever they want, and they're demanding overpayment. The whole line of being ungrateful goes both ways. Players do a lot for teams and teams do a lot for players.

Bye... I'm loyal to the shield...

well Bobby Mac says Girardi is gonna be resigned and they are close, Brooks says now G might not be willing to sign for what he originally wanted.. can March 5th just come already.

Please he's probably creeping these pages laughing his butt off how just tweeting a name randomly makes the board go bonkers.

Yeah well if he's creeping. Boomer go back and tell the boys no ****ing way. They are playing a risky game messing with the culture any more then it has been.

Well said. I hope MSL comes here and it works out. But this is in line with how I feel overall.

I like St. Louis, its hard not to like a guy who (at least projects to be) is a classy individual. But, trading any assets for him at his age, isn't wise, IMO. Especially considering his contract is up in a year.

Why not use Callahan to bring in young assets, and then sign St. Louis to a short-term contract when he is a UFA in the summer of 2015.

Doesn't that make more sense?

I hope this club doesn't screw this up. I have little-to-no faith in Sather. I get the feeling Gorton and Clark keep Sather even on a daily basis. Like nurses at a retirement home keeping the elderly entertained and stopping them from self destruction.

Boomer wasn't wrong about the St. Louis stuff. The player asked for a trade and the Rangers spoke to TB. That he had before anyone else. Yzerman doesn't want Callahan. The Rangers don't want to give up young assets. That's the problem.

You think Boomer knows anything about Vatanen? I don't think Boomer is watching the Ducks late at night when he wakes up at 3 or 4 in the morning to do his radio show. Someone gave him Vatanen. The Rangers finally agree to give Girardi 6 years and $33M but G isn't rushing to sign it. Vatanen would be a good get for the Rangers.

People want a good young puck mover. Vatanen is exactly that. He would be the ideal main target for either trade. RD.

I wanted Voynov before he took off in the NHL. Vatanen is another player like that.

I think there's a three-way deal to be made to bring MSL and getting Callahan to a team that would want him for a playoff push, such as the Blues, Sharks or Kings. That's the "many moving parts" that Boomer is talking about.
