Except Boomer said its a team in east.

My Ovie theory aside for a monent, I'd think it FAR more likely Sather pulled the trigger on Cally for Marty St Louis, because it re-unites him with Richards, and MSL is signed for next year at very reasonable numbers.

so it equates to kicking the can down the road. We do get more offense, MSL is gritty if small, but ****, this guy led the league in scoring last year and things seemed real sour for him when he initially was left off Team Canada with Yzerman as head honcho.

so it wouldnt stun me. If you dont focus on size - which MSL has proven time & again isnt an issue, or focus on age - which MSL has proved last year and again this year isnt really affecting him yet, then it's not nuts. And IDK how a trade for a guy like Ott could be labeled a shocker, so....

Plus, NYR were rumoured after MSL last year.
So again, i think it far more probable if its an eastern team.

Tweet was "I like Ott. Your thoughts?"

Asking for Boomer's opinion on Ott. To which he replied " if he ain't wearing a NYR jersey I can't stand him."

Don't see that being a trade hint. More his opinion on Ott. How I read it.

So by process of elimination based on Boomer's tweets.
Trade will not be with the Bruins, Pens, Philly, Devils, Isles or Sabres.

Since it's within the Eastern Conference, that would leave the Red Wings, Panthers, Canadiens, Senators, Lightning, Maple Leafs, Hurricanes, Blue Jackets and Capitals. It's an offensive player and someone who opponent's fans would not like. If the player is under 30, AND an offensive upgrade to Callahan, the only players I could see fit are Pacioretty, McArthur and Purcell. I don't know so much about McArthur or Purcell's reputations amongst fans but offensively would be an upgrade. The Lightning, Canadiens and Senators are all alive in the playoff race and could look to bring in a guy like Callahan who is a leader and has significant playoff experience.

Personally, I hope its with Boston for Marchand since he would replace Callahan well but I just don't see why Boston would do that.

Given that he said no to: Bruins, Pens, Philly, Devs Isles
And yes to: East
That leaves Washington, Columbus, Carolina, Tampa. Ottawa, Montreal, Florida, Detroit, Buffalo
And a probable "tremendous upgrade"
And "Grit and Skill"

So if we go through options by team:

Washington: Johansen, Browuer (don't see why he'd have major respect for them)

Columbus: Johansen, Atkinson, Anisimov (same as above and doubt we can get Johansen)

Carolina: J. Staal, Ruutu Skinner (Maybe Staal? Skinner too good/Ruutu decent. Staals contract is a concern though)

Toronto:JVR/Kadri (Too much for them to give)

Tampa: Nothing really...Purcell? Don't see why they'd give us MSL for him.

Ottawa: Zibanejad? Michalek? Turris?

Montreal: Pacioretty, Plekanec

Florida: Nothing.

Detroit: Franzen

Buffalo: Nothing

Closet Habs fan? ;)

I just do not like Pacioretty, and never have.

To answer Aufheben's 'huh?' I have the same answer. Somebody previously mentioned Pacioretty possibly coming over to the Rangers, so my response is no mystery. Don't like Max-Pac, never did.

If we are making up rumors, I'll offer this:

Boston would do Marchard for Girardi.

Callahan for Dan Boyle (who the Rangers tried to acquire years ago).

Offensive RD (2yr stopgap, that's the contract D. Boyle wants) and a winger to replace Callahan at the right price point.

One of the Staal brothers? Both have NTC, Carolina gets rid of a big cap hit, and gets a good player in return, and finds the one team one of them would waive the NTC to go to because Marc is here?

Jordan makes sense to me as a possibility given what he said. Eric is way too good.

I don't see him saying no to any teams beside Pittsburgh and didn't see him say anything about grit.

Yea was just throwing out some names. I don't think it will be Jordan because it would look like a slap in the face to Eric if they trade his brother after what two seasons?

Pens fan coming in peace, i follow Boomer, with all the clues about a team in the east, a deal about money, Carcillo, a player you hate.

I came up with David Clarkson, he seems to fit all the clues that boomer gave out.

lol! Didn't see him tweet anything about it being the worst trade in Rangers history...

My feeling is Girardi will re-sign. I think they have to move Callahan first, but then they'll move quickly on Girardi. Depending on the contract they bring in the trade for Callahan and how much Girardi ultimately gets, will decide Stralman's fate with the Rangers.
Brian Boyle can be 3rd/4th line 'rental' for the rest of the season, or they could move him and call up Miller.

I think when all is said and done that Girardi, Stralman, Zuc, Kreider (lol) and maybe one or two of the Moores stay.
I think Callahan, Boyle, Pouliot, Falk and eventually Richards all go.

I was going off the compilation posted by Kreider here "http://hfboards.mandatory.com/showpost.php?p=80338271&postcount=333"

I definitely saw him saw grit. Like you, I did not see the no to anyone other than Pittsburgh myself.

Except that he's not an offensive improvement. Yes he's struggling this season, but he has just 10 points in 39 games. That's horrible and a big dropoff from Callahan. not a chance
