Shocking to me says someone completely out of left field. My money is on a sign and trade. Pacioretty or Marchand is coming back.

Maybe it's Simmonds. He's 25.

boomer said nothing about the guy being under 30, said the player brings grit an skill, and boomer has major ''respect'' for this player, also said the team is in the eastern conference

Someone we'd probably hate if not playing on the Rangers. Someone like Carcillo

Sign and trade? Yeah, I think Cally can bring back a Simmonds. When you're a fan of a team, you tend to lose a little objectivity about what a guy is really worth. I'll bet most GM's around the league place a higher value on Callahan than most, if not all, of this fan base does.

Just read through the tweets. Must have missed the "under 30"

All I remember seeing in my quick scan was:

Player we hate unless he's wearing a Rangers jersey.
Eastern team.
One for one or maybe an inclusion of a conditional pick.
Most likely Callahan leaving.
Think offense.

Just seems so strange to think of Cally in that putrid sweater.
 
I follow Boomer on twitter so I took a peek over here cause I figured you guys would be all over it. I see a lot of you have Simmonds as a possibility. While I love Cally and hate that he's a Ranger, don't think the Flyers are going to trade Simmonds. Guy is just a beast and locked up with a great cap hit.
If it's Hartnell I'll just die. Guy is the best. Although a lot of Flyer fans would drive him to the airport, but like Cally for you guys not everything can be measured just by looking at his stats.
This sucks for you guys. Really in a can't win situation here. Gonna trade your
Captain and heart and soul or grossly overpay for a guy who doesn't produce equally to the salary he wants. You win cups with guys like Cally though.
You guys want Lecavlier?....
 
Where did he say "under 30"? I didn't see that. If he did, I'll breathe easier. Someone please post the tweet.

(As it is, that MSL rumor - which includes the RANGERS giving up a 1st round pick FFS - is sounding more and more plausible.)

Jagr, as much as I loved him here, was always a mercenary to me. Seeing Callahan in another sweater, that's as tough as it gets. Leetch was way worse than Jagr, too, especially the last year when he was with Boston.

You're right but you don't win cups with guys like Cally paid at 6+Million per year.
 
Wow things really picked up tonight.

If the Rangers decide the best course of action is to trade Callahan for a 38 y/o MSL I may lose all hope in the franchise.
 
I saw someone mention here earlier, sorry I cant find it again;

but last week I got into it with a few buds saying it is NOT out of the realm, with something like $70M left on his contract and the GM (McPhee) apparently on the hot seat with no contract next year, that maybe Leonsis & the Caps have decided to turn the page.
They havent won with Ovechkin, and he's getting to that age where it's natural to start to slip (not that he has this year, overall).
Anyway, my friends said never happened, and maybe not.
Except it's not crazy, AND it fits Boomer's ("SHOCKER" grit & skill from the east, 1-for-1 [on an NHL basis)) tweet.

But to my mind, Callahan, Miller, maybe a high pick and picking up $70M should get you in the ballpark. And Sather's a frickin' maniac sometimes.

Funny thing is, Im not sure how Ovechkin would fit here. But if its only Callahan coming of this year's roster, I guess id like to find out LOL.
