Yeah, MSL the "smurf" :help: Not like he's an elite offensive player with a penchant for playing well in the playoffs or anything...

For Hagelin/Kristo/2nd? I do that. Love Hagelin, but MSL is just too good to turn that down.

Boyle let me ask you a question not fighting a honest answer, to you think the rangers have the size and grit to make a run in the playoffs ? MSL is elite I agree .. Mza.is the man agreed love him,, but come on we need some size on the wall and down low somewhere

Callahan: ranks 95th in pts/game over last 3 years combined. In between Wayne Simmonds ($3.975M/yr) & Michael Ryder ($3.5M/yr)

Apples to oranges. Neither player was a pending UFA with a 70m cap.

I don't know the drill but Dagoon seems to be taken seriously, so I'm assuming he has been accurate about stuff in the past?

Trading Hagelin is a huge, huge mistake, IMO.

Maybe, maybe not. He's pretty much the only forward with actual value that I wouldn't be too upset about losing, depending on the return of course. If someone has to go, I'd rather him than Kreider or Stepan. We can't keep everyone with value if you need something (scoring).

Spezza is also in play not saying to the rangers but his name was passed around .. Buffalo trying to move Stewart also

FWIW, rumor that won't go away, at least not yet: goalie Jaro Halak from BUF to MIN. We'll see what tomorrow brings. #Tradecentre #tsn

Feel like this says it all.... meaning.... if you can get a first rounder and a prospect for him, do it.

Hagelins speed on the forecheck and transition is a big part of this teams success. That speed we will sorely miss. I am all for MSL but I would just hate to give up Hagelin.

Would love to see the following line up next season:

Nash-Stepan-St.Louis
Kreider-Richards-Callahan
Hagelin-Miller-Zuccarello
Lindberg-Moore-Brown

Hagelin makes sense as the guy TB would want, but I would hate to give him up.

My ideal MSL trade:

Brassard, Dorsett, Kristo, Moore/Allen 2nd for MSL, Brown.

That's 5 pieces, with 4 NHL pieces going to TB. The salaries offset, Stevie Y gets his futures and NHL talent.

Hagelins been one of my favorite Rangers. But If that's what it takes for MSL, you pull the trigger. It's a no brainer. I would move a ton of **** before Hags though.

I definitely think so. I think, ideally, Hags would be on the 2nd or 3rd line, but I think he has enough to his game with this speed to play pretty much anywhere in the lineup. I feel the same about Zuccs. 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, they'll play.

With Nash and Zuccs ahead of Cally, I think 6 million is absolute insanity. Yes, intangibles, yes he's a heart and soul guy, but 6 million for 6 years is a lot of money for a guy who's going to basically play on our 3rd line.

If we're trading Hagelin, Kristo, and a pick for St. Louis, St. Louis is 38. He'll be 39 in training camp. Yeah, he can add a lot, but I think we're much farther from the cup than just St. Louis. Plus we're losing Hags who's always been good on the forecheck. And, again, we're doing the old "all-in for vets." It hasn't worked. I don't think it will work. Signing Cally, keeping Ritchie, acquiring MSL...I think we're setting ourselves up for disappointment and an early exit. We all saw the Boston game. St. Louis is not going to be the panacea that makes everything better and gets us to the cup.

The best year we had was when we buckled down, got our own guys going, and complemented them with talent. Of course, a lot of guys got hot at the right time.

From what I've seen, he's been pretty accurate considering trades and negotiations are frequently in flux. Just because a rumor doesn't play out doesn't mean it wasn't accurate.

And I agree, trading Hagelin, especially in AV's system, is a big mistake. He adds great speed on the wing and forechecking that makes the other team think twice. Plus, he's relatively cost-controlled. He doesn't have the best hands, and he'll never be MSL, but I'd rather keep Hags if possible.

But I guess if the Rangers could get MSL for Hags and then flip Callahan for someone to replace Hags' role, that could work. I have no idea how viable that is though.

I mean, I do think we could be a bit bigger, particularly at center. Adding Miller to the lineup helps, IMO. McIlrath will help with that on D soon. We have two big wingers in the top-6 right now, and Pouliot can throw his weight around. Replace Richards with Miller next year, and maybe add a bit of size at 2 LW, and we'll be fine.

Well, Ryder was a UFA under a ~64 million cap, but making nearly half as much as Callahan was initially asking is not making RC's demands look anymore reasonable.

However, if one looks for a comparable, it's hard not to look at the better player, Nathan Horton. And remember, UFA contract should be higher as the team is giving up no assets other than $.

Sure. Let's throw our farm away along with some average players to get MSL for a year. Makes no sense. I doubt we resign him as he'll demand a nice paycheck.
