Sure. Let's throw our farm away along with some average players to get MSL for a year. Makes no sense. I doubt we resign him as he'll demand a nice paycheck.

How the hell is Kristo throwing our whole farm away?.. Brass is on our team. Dorsett is useless.

Would love to see the following line up next season:

Nash-Stepan-St.Louis
Kreider-Richards-Callahan
Hagelin-Miller-Zuccarello
Lindberg-Moore-Brown

Hagelin makes sense as the guy TB would want, but I would hate to give him up.

My ideal MSL trade:

Brassard, Dorsett, Kristo, Moore/Allen 2nd for MSL, Brown.

That's 5 pieces, with 4 NHL pieces going to TB. The salaries offset, Stevie Y gets his futures and NHL talent.

your 2nd line center... :shakehead

I don't think any of those guys are top 5 prospects in the Ranger farm system.

Just throwin it out there, but I don't think MSL was a top 5 anything, anywhere.

Except the top scorer in the NHL last year. Also a top the MVP voting one season... as well as another year where he was THE top scorer.

I get that people jump at reading a statement... but jeez I have to exercise some constraint at a response like that.

He'd also be the top scorer on this team by a wide margin right now.

I really want to get St. Louis, if not for this year's run (some think we can't do it), then for next year too. But I would NOT be willing to give up Hagelin. I just can't. and Brassard has been our most effective center.

Tough decisions.

If I deal Hagelin, it's as the roster player in a deal for a star player in his prime - not a 38 year old. But St. Louis is as elite as elite gets. Consider they don't want Cally, we're not trading Nash, we're not trading Richards, or Zuccarello - it has to be Miller, Hagelin, or Brassard.

Sucks.

Realistically, if you had to guess, what are the chances a deal doesn't get done at this point?

Wait, wait, wait - we can get flip Carl Hagelin, Danny Kristo (a prospect who becomes an UFA if he doesn't hit the minimum number of NHL games by next summer) and a 2nd... for Marty St. Louis PLUS a prospect?

I am strongly against bringing in guys that old until such time as we have a proper core in place, but jeez... That would be hard to pass up, even for me.
