Do you blame people?

He put himself in this position? His energy (or lack there of) has really hurt the team on some games. He used to be a difference maker. He hasn't been a difference maker in 1 game this season. 1 game. And to make matters worse it looks like he's deliberately doing that not as a sign of regression but in an attempt to preserve his body for a higher contract.

He's not selling out. He's not forechecking hard. He's not hitting hard. He hasn't fought once this year.

He led by example. Now he's trying to cripple the team he is supposed to lead. It's easy to see why fans are turning on him.

After so many years of "selling out" because that was expected of him from Torts as our leader/Captain.....how could he continue to do such for whatever years he does have left? Especially that AVdoesnt require that. I don't have a huge problem with that (as I'd rather him be on the ice) problem is.........instead of that Tortarella ****, you need to put up numbers. That has not happened.

hahahahahah oh well

At the start of the season everyone would have wanted Callahan re-signed, only thing that's changed is the amounto f money I guess

I think Yakupov has that offensive potential that this team should take a shot on. I really like Miller though, it's tough for me.

it's not like we all didn't expect Callahan would be signed when we went to 6 years...

Anyway, the sadder part is Ryan Callahan even at 6M with a 71.3M cap SHOULD NOT be an obstacle to building a contending team with a GOOD GM. so once again, the problem is Sather.

“@TSNBobMcKenzie: I am hearing NYR and Ryan Callahan are inching towards a contract agreement but they're not there...yet. #TSN #Tradecentreâ€

eh.

Seems almost inevitible.

I have no hope for Sather to improve this club for both now and the future. He's about to sign his biggest trade chip to a ridiculous contract.

*sigh*

Sather will always take the easy way out. Always.

Giving into Callahan's demands was always the easy way out of this situation.

Stepan amd Miller for Kesler will be the second coming of Bobby Carpenter for Miller and Ridley 2 deal, don't do it! Miller looks comfortable at center and he will only get better.

****ing Sather is going to give a declining middle 6 player at least a 6X6 contract.

Shoot me now, pls.

@HFNYRAil: I am hearing the sound of every Ranger fan except Callagraves and Sting plummet to their deaths.

RIPIP.

Trade Cally + Hagelin for MSL and a 4th.
Yes pls, even consider a small add.

Trade Stralman for a 2nd.
Could go either way. Prefer to retain until better options in hand, then trade.
Are we better retaining by moving now, for a pick, or by holding on? Will he test the market in any event? Or be satisfied with re-up if it is a decent enough #?

Trade that 2nd for Jagr.
No. Use it for a better prospect.

Trade Dorsett for a 5th or 6th.
Would have moved him for more earlier in yr if we could have.
Take what is available.

Call up Allen.
ok.

..more to do.

as if Sather could improve the team with having cap space.. The problem will always be our mediocre GM.

Callahan is the best bad option. You know the player. He is a better option than keeping Richards. The other free agent forwards aren't the answer either. Stastny might even be off the market by tomorrow.

Stastny did add that he "absolutely" would be willing to grant the Avalanche a discount. The trick there is how that's defined, especially since it's generally conceded that while he has played well as a two-way center doing a lot of the intangibles and is a major contributor to this team, his $6.6 million salary the past five seasons raised eyebrows.

"Everybody knows how the business works," Stastny said. "You can obviously go somewhere and get more money somewhere else. But if you have something good and you want to stick with it, that hometown discount is obviously something that everyone's aware of and is important to do. You want both sides to be happy. You don't want to (mistreat) the team and you want the team to be put in a good situation where they can kind of compete down the road as well."

Stastny agent and Avs expected to talk later today. Situation still fluid, anything might still happen

Personally, I wouldn't move Miller for Yakupov. Miller is the kind of player you win with. The kind of player with the combination of skill, size, grit, and determination.

I would't call Miller untouchable, but i wouldn't actively move him, either.

I would be looking to add to Miller, Kreider, Stepan. Not subtract. Or move laterally.

Move Callahan, get a Kerdiles in return. Build that center depth.

I have no faith in Sather.
