Yeah, I would agree to potential locker room issue is the most compelling reason to move him ASAP.

This, and the fact that the more time ticks off his contract the less we'll likely offer. His value is highest to us right now. Getting him for two playoff runs would be pretty big.

Take away Brassard's hot streak and you see what he is. You don't win with guys like him. Sam Gagner and Brassard aren't too far off from the mold of players you don't win with.

I've said this before, but I'll repeat myself. At this point, we should be talking about Brassard's cold streak, not his hot streak.

He played poorly in October and November - which just happened to coincide with the entire team playing poorly and during which time he had all kinds of crappy linemates shuffling on and off his wings. Since then he's had 27 points in 37 games. And, as we all remember, he was gangbusters when he came over post deadline and in the POs last year. So, yes, he had one 24 game COLD streak, but he's been a consistent producer for the other 62 games he's been here, including 12 in the playoffs.

Even if you want to discount the fact that his cold streak coincided with the whole team being screwed up and say he's just plain streaky, that still translates to about a 60 point center, who is also a PPG in the POs.

He's not the solution at 1C by any means, but I'm a fan.

I guess perhaps if the Hagelin / MSL deal has any legs, it might be because the Rangers are planning to recoup assets with a Callahan trade. I.e., they wanted a roster player back for Callahan, but cannot find one; Therefore they're okay moving Kristo and a pick because they're getting a prospect and a pick back for Callahan.

If I read it correctly, Dagoon speculated that there would be a prospect coming back our way as well? If I counted correctly, they have 49 players under contract right now.

So we'd be looking at:

Kreider - Stepan - Nash
Miller - Richards - MSL
Pouliot - Brassard - Zucc
Carcillo - Moore - Boyle
Dorsett

As lousy has Hagelin has been for the last couple months, I'd be hard pressed to say that lineup is a downgrade, at least on paper, from what we have now.

Actually, I believe you get an upgrade in both skill (MSL) and size (Miller), while potentially creating cap space by not re-signing Callahan to his reported demands, and swapping Miller for Hagelin. Plus, it's possible that the prospects/pick lost for MSL are at least a wash with what comes back for Callahan. I'm okay with those results.

Think Colorado would like an upgrade from PAP on line 2 RW? Think they want to add some vet leadership to a young group?

Rangers and Avs have been linked all year. Callahan for McGinn, 1st.

McGinn slots in for Hagelin. Hagelin, Kristo, Avs 1st for MSL.

Not saying I want it to happen, but I could see it happening.

Kreider - Step - Nash
McGinn - Richards - MSL
Pouliot - Brass - MZA
Boyle - Moore - Carcillo

I like Hagelin, speedy player, good pker, great puck possession player. But that's about as far as it goes. Solid value still however for. 2.5

With a game tomorrow I'd imagine they make their moves today but that's probably wishful thinking. He also forgot option 4.) The Rangers neither sign or trade Callahan.

Good point. Although last year, didn't the Clowe and Dorsett/Brassard/Moore deals happen hours before the game against Pittsburgh. (That was probably the best game they played last year!)

so the carolina owner wants to cut salary? we shud trade for jordan staal now. i think we could afford most of his cap hit right now anyways and we can replace richards salary in the summer with his.

HatTrick - Do you think Callahan will net us a first? Man, I hope so but I can't envision it. I am not plugged into any resources but I think Sather is probably getting offers of 3rd or 4th rounders.

I think the Kesler injury concerns are a bit overblown.

He's missed one game thie season.

He missed a 12 games due to a shoulder injury (could be a conern) and 19 games from a broken foot.

If the issues were knees or a back or groin I'd be more concerned.

The broken foot could have been a blocked shot or falling into the boards the wrong way.

As for his "declining" production, look at who he plays for and then look at the rest of the team. The Sedins are having a down season and Torts teams do not score well.

THAT said, he's still on pace for 50+ points.

Now, I'm still not sure why Kesler hates AV. He's become the player he is under AV's coaching. Does he think he was short changed? Does he think he would have posted better numbers with a different HC?

He should be thanking AV.

Eh?

Two words - Paul Gustad, just don't feel like llooking up the 1000's of others..

I prefer seeing Miller getting ice time, especially with MSL.

Just a guess, but I think he could. I think there are enough teams with serious interest to drive his value up.

McGinn is one of the players i was hoping for this trade deadline. Would bring needed size and grit on the forecheck and he would provide more scoring depth.

We know Buffalo is looking to move Stewart, also. Wonder if we could add both McGinn and Stewart?

I'm seeing a lot of Hagelin for St. Louis posts but cant find the rumor.

There are three things i would hope Sather adds: size/grit, offensive defenseman, scoring depth.

The Rangers sold at the right time last April. Many people didn't like that trade....... From: @Aportzline

Gaborik had great seasons in Minn and New York. Perhaps somewhere in there is still a dynamic player. #CBJ hoping other teams believe that.

I liked they traded Gaborik, but not keen on the return. Still not.
