Good, we can finally put that nonsense to rest.
I was listening to Andrew Fillipponi from Pittsburgh sports radio on with Marinaro this morning he said the feeling around Pittsburgh today is that Letang is gonna sign with the Habs. Then said that he'd be shocked if Letang signed for less than 5 years and thinks he wants a deal that takes him to 40 years old and also thinks he wants a 50 million dollar deal.Yea, if he wants 5 years with Habs, I wouldn't sign him. I'd go 3 at most.
It would be more of a mentorship role. So when the young guys get more experience, if they're able to step up and play those big minutes, that is where you have Letang play a smaller role and eventually don't need him anymore as his deal is done.
If Price goes on LTIR, that will also help with the cap.
And if we have any real good D, one will emerge as a No.1 D man.He wanted 5 years as well. Letang is obviously a very good defenceman right now, but will his play decline in the next 3-4 years as he reaches his late thirties, at the point where the Habs should be starting to compete.

Sounds to me that Fillopponi should start thinking less. As in a year or two less and $15M less. And if that is where Letang is at he should think less also.I was listening to Andrew Fillipponi from Pittsburgh sports radio on with Marinaro this morning he said the feeling around Pittsburgh today is that Letang is gonna sign with the Habs. Yeah that really was a lot of thinks from Fillipponi there and it sounded to me that this was just Fillipponi's opinion on what Letang could be looking for but if any of that is even remotely close to being true, regarding what Letang is looking for this summer, then no ****ing thanks to that.
Here's the audio from that Fillipponi segment this morning. The Letang talk starts about 4:35 into the clip.
Fillipponi: Feels like Letang will sign with the Habs
Andrew Fillipponi from 93.7 the fan in Pittsburgh, joins Tony Marinaro on the Montreal Forum to talk about the Penguins game 7 loss to the New York Rangers, the future of Crosby, Malkin and Letang and the NHL's hypocrisy.www.tsn.ca
I think it favors us tbh and I love ColeI still think CC for Laff straight up would be a great trade (for both teams)
He will go back in Philly, never wanted to leave.I think he'd prefer Ottawa if he's not going to a contender, they're closer to their opportunity window
That is not the right question to ask, the question is why would any of the two teams even think of having a discussion along these lines. U do not trade someone just because its cool so why would we do that in MTL and why would they want to do it in NY. I personally do not see any reason,I still think CC for Laff straight up would be a great trade (for both teams)
well - IMO I want to go with the bigger player (and potentially higher pedigree), that he is a hometown kid doesn't matter much to me but it is nice for the fans. That is not the right question to ask, the question is why would any of the two teams even think of having a discussion along these lines. You see Laf having it easier in Montreal? What if you get another Drouin situation, while CC kills it in NY? It’s safer to keep him and try to draft our own Laf.I can see NYR agreeing to this - not bc CC is better (per se) but that Laff has had a hard start in NYR
