Someone who know people working for the Habs front office in Montréal. He knew about Vinny joining the front office 9 days before it happened for example. He is accurate, as much as "office chat" type information can be accurate.
Any inside info is good

The PC with Gorton was really Monday at 11h

I did say he was accurate, but it does sound like "office chat" stuff. Especially the things he posted today.

For Drouin, back in March, he said that some teams inquired about him, but I think Drouin was injured at the time which would have killed a trade.

Any thoughts on using Anderson as bait to get some Toronto goodies? Imo, Leafs are still too soft and they need more grit. So Anderson might be tempting. If so, what should we ask for?

Signing Bergeron would be nice for mentoring Suzuki and Wright, but otherwise, it doesn't make much sense unless we trade Dvorak.
There were rumours that the habs were willing to trade Dvorak at the tdl, so that might be it.

I can see Letang coming assuming Petry is gone.

I'm not holding my breathe, but I wouldn't be surprised if Bergeron comes. Right when Hughes was hired he mentioned he wanted to bring in a mentor for Suzuki, and mentioned how Recchi was a huge help for Bergeron.

I think the biggest benefit of one or both of these guys coming is we not only add a very good leader, but we could sell Dvorak/Petry and further stock up on picks/prospects.

Would love to find a way to get PL Dubois. Such a freaking beast.

I think Winnipeg will have to choose between PLD and Schef

Hughes said that if they do indeed trade Petry, that would help create cap space. But that Habs would look to bring in another veteran D because they don't want to put their young D in positions where they will fail. Meaning they don't want to put a young guy in Petry's spot and hope he can carry the load and that in turn hinders his development.

Letang could be that guy. Or most likely will be someone else.

Letang's rumored asking price in Pittsburgh was 7M. If Habs trade Petry and find a way to not retain salary or take a bad contract back, then Letang will only cost an extra $750K on the cap. You would replace Petry's 6.25 and add Letang's 7M. If that is indeed what he'd sign for IF he signs here.

He wanted 5 years as well. Letang is obviously a very good defenceman right now, but will his play decline in the next 3-4 years as he reaches his late thirties, at the point where the Habs should be starting to compete.

Yea, if he wants 5 years with Habs, I wouldn't sign him. I'd go 3 at most.

It would be more of a mentorship role. So when the young guys get more experience, if they're able to step up and play those big minutes, that is where you have Letang play a smaller role and eventually don't need him anymore as his deal is done.

If Price goes on LTIR, that will also help with the cap.

And he would run the PP what we absolutely need

Il keep this quick NO to Letang, no need at this time. I'd rather all kids

I'd also like to see the kids. But as Hughes said, he doesn't want to put them in a position that will hurt them more than help them. He said this in regards to trading Petry. If they end up keeping him, then the young guys will be surrounded by a vet.

But he was saying that if they trade Petry, he doesn't want to force that role and those minutes on a young guy who wouldn't be ready. And that would not help the young guy in his development.
