What a dumb post. This right here is why we can’t have civilized conversations. You sound like someone that has no scope.

Obviously you want someone you can relate to and speak the same language too when your being integrated into a team.

Calling someone racists for something that has been tried and tested is simply not a good look.

Go look in depth into sociology

@Sorinth is among the better posters here, and has been for several years.

Mailloux still has a year and a half to work on his defensive game before he is waiver eligible. Most D take a lot longer to develop and he was a project pick to begin with so some ppl need to chill out. If he hasn’t improved after year 3 in Laval than yes it will be disappointing.

Slaf’s English was very strong, and both his parents English is exceptional. Same Redenbacher. It’s not an anti-Russian issue.

Ovy didn’t need a translator because his mom taught English and he was able to communicate well, Malkin though only knew a few words and Pens needed Gonchar. Panarin barely even knew a few words and Chi needed a full time translator. Radulov had a very difficult time in Nashville not knowing any English despite having played a year in Juniors (Quebec).

Michkov can barely pronounce a few words, Demigod seems light years ahead based on the little snippets… I’ll trust HuGo know better than I
Demidov's English is just as strong as Slaf's, both are behind Reinbacher. If Demidov needed a translator then sure an argument could be made, but that's not the argument that was being made. The OP even said Demidov's English was very good and not the reason.

anticipating a centre at some point to be acquired by KH I think at the draft a big trade will happen
You don't trust Kirby's recent showings carrying him on this #2 spot?

I don't really trust it either.

If it's just to fill #3, they can wait until the Free Agency market opens.

Totally agreed.

Mailloux fell so hard this year its unbelievable...

This is my list of top 5 D prospects right now for MTL:

1. Reinbacher
2. Engstrom
3. Konyushkov
4. Mailloux
5. Trudeau

Mailloux is barely ahead of Trudeau.
From my observations, Trudeau has passed Mailloux and has passed him at a gallop. It’s obvious in the way that Laval is using Trudeau: on the first power play unit and killing penalties. Trudeau is a more dynamic skater than Mailloux, he’s more physical and he has much better defensive orientation. The only edges that Mailloux has is his passing ( it’s the best in the organization); his shot and offensive vision. In my opinion the only way Mailloux makes any impact at the next level is as a power/ skilled forward.

I have always thought the touted strength/ depth of Montreal’s defensive prospects was largely illusory. You had Hutson, the unproven Engstrom and Reinbacher, the overrated Mailloux, the flawed Trudeau and the unknown Russian.

It would surprising if Trudeau turns out to be the best of the lot after Hutson. But to this writer more surprising things have happened in this grand sport.

For those crying everyday about 31st for Newcrochet.

They never say 31st but *1st rounder* like it's a unprotected lotto pick.

I'm with Sorinth on this one. If you don't think Demidov being Russian didn't factor into the premise of getting a Russian nanny, you are being disingenuous. There are so many young players on this team and this hasn't been an issue until now because of Demidov.

That said, no one was called a racist.

You can have the same argument for those who want to trade Jake Evans for a ''1st''. If even they can get that.

To be fair, you also have to look at players taken after the 31st pick.

But yeah, picks taken outside of the top 20 have a low probability of success.
