troubador.... definitely an intriguing player.

CBJ needs to stop going after players that don't want to be there. Same script over and over again.

Jacob Trouba has been bad...Habs claiming his full salary?

Sorry, I don't see it.
Laine had a 8.7 mil price tag for one more year and Habs bit. Trouba has a 8 mil price tag for one more year.

He's also one of Laine's ex-team mate. Armia too I think.

Edit: Also he's definitely going to ruin the tank on this Habs squad...

Troubas not a good player and I’m not taking him on for free. He’d be an upgrade over Struble/Barron but we still need to get paid. But wasn’t it reported that the Rangers don’t want to deal with us because of Gorton?

I'd also be surprised if Montreal is in on this. I can believe they looked into it, but probably not as interested as other teams.

But, it wouldn't be the first time HuGo do something unexpected. They took Monahan off CGY's hands full salary when rumors were saying Flames wanted to get him off their cap. They also traded for Laine when he asked for a trade. We didn't think Montreal would be the team that pulls these moves off.

Of course, they got compensated in those deals. However, we can still be surprised by them when we think they're not involved in anything.

Good news! You wouldn't be taking him on, the Habs would :laugh:

Totally different situations.

Patrik Laine was only available because he wanted out, not to mention the fact he was going through personal issues lowered his cost of acquisition.

Additionally, the Habs were essentially paid to take on his contract.

There is no such incentive with Trouba in a waiver claim.

That's the key...if you told me the Habs might be interested in trading with the Rangers to acquire Trouba?

Yeah I could see that because I know HuGO would squeeze something out of the Rangers to take on that salary.

But a straight waiver claim for a guy making 8M this year and next?

I don't see it.

The waivers is likely a threat if he doesn't waive his ntc to move to a team on it.

Trouba is not coming to Montreal. American who's wife is a doctor and wanted to go out west. Montreal is the literal last place he'd want to go.

Apparently, CBJ's are the team interested in him and working on a deal.

I heard on French radio this morning that there're one report that says that Rangers might have a back door deal with a team to claim Trouba off waivers and then the two teams will pull of a separate trade to probably compensate the team who will claim Trouba.

I didn't catch if the radio host was relaying info he saw pass through or if he was only suggesting something.

Its exactly what they did already with Goodrow.

Matheson is an upgrade and it only costs the Rangers Kakko to upgrade AND cut costs ?
Matheson is an upgrade on who? Trouba? How?

The whole reason we'd claim Trouba in the first place is so we can stop playing this guy so much, especially in defensive situations.

I know they placed Goodrow on waivers and Sharks claimed him. But did Sharks and Rangers have a second deal for compensation?

It won't. NY will always be a desired UFA spot.

People said the same thing about Vegas. These guys don't care.
