Gallagher
Monty

For
1st unprotected
2nd
Campbell 1 million retained (at least the buyout is better than Gallagher’s)
Cap dump (Foegle or Ceci)
Not sure that's enough going out from Edmonton...

Gally/Monty/soup retention= 8.5M
Soup @4, Ceci = 7.25M

The whole package. It’s not enough of a return to get a 1st that could end up in the high 20’s or worse if Edmonton gets their heads out of their ass. Monty would only help them get better and Habs get a worse pick. But adding Kovy and taking Ceci makes the deal worse. I’d go Monty for a 1st straight up but swapping Kovy for Ceci and eating all that cash for Edmonton would need a sweetener for me. Whether you it’s a Halloway/another prospect Habs like or more picks, like two 2nds.

Fair... Though that's what the conditional 2nd is meant to offset (oilers make playoffs with Monty, or re-sign him, we get that extra 2nd to offset the 1st being lower)

If we can get more, of course that's better... As is just getting a 1st for Monty.

I also think Ceci isn't as bad as he's being made out to be. He's struggling this year along with the bulk of the oilers roster, but @3.25M with the cap increase this summer, he's not going to be hard to move if he doesn't show well enough to slot into a 4-5 role with us next year.

Holland has to do something soon or he will be fired next .He doesn't have a choice. The longer he waits the worse things get.Soon they will have no chance of even making the playoffs let alone contend.
Even if he decided it was ok to not make the playoffs this year, the signal that gives to all the players is that management won’t go all in to win the cup. That’s not going to sit well when you waste mcdavid Draisatl much less anyone else who already question whether they should go to Edmonton.

And so what’s the plan then? Tank again for a decade in the hope that you find ANOTHER couple of generational talents to restart your rebuild?

Gooooooood luck. This is the time to overpay

Edmonton is against the ropes and there’s blood in the water. This shouldn’t be a fair trade for Edmonton. They’re in pure desperation mode.

Gally and Monty is 7.5M going to EDM.
Campbell at 4M and Ceci is 7.25M going out.

But even then, EDM needs cap space and Gally already make 1.5M more than Campbell, so i don't see why EDM would retain.

Campbell + Foegele is 7.75M.
Foegele and Gally are forwards. I think that makes more sense.

If they trade Ceci, they need another D to replace him.
I don't think Kovacevic is the answer, even if they gain cap space by making that swap.

Friggin’ cheap ass clowns.

Meantime, Dreger was dreaming up a blockbuster trade the other day that may have been discussed with the Habs (or not, cause it’s Dreger).

Wouldn’t be surprised if this were a directive from ownership who is just as clueless.
Dregs is a hack

Watch all this smoke for Edmonton in Montreal to get something done
Isn't even real and it turns up that Edmonton does something completely away from the city in Quebec

We're gonna trade a bad goalie + a bad defenseman + some other garbage for Bouchard + some other garbage, it is so obvious

Mtl., QC.
Bouchard + pock vs Monty + def (Kova, Harris, Barron) would be a freaking steaaaal.

Bouchard is instantly our best def. He can quaterback a powerplay. Hes tall, strong and young.

Then we can easily trade someone like Matheson for a good forward.

The current rumor is that all the stuff in Chicago is because they are sending Corey Perry and Mzarek to Edmonton...
Only found this guy as a mainstream source and he’s nebulous about it:

Adding a little fuel to this is the connection between Holland and Mzarek:

Oilers deserve to rot for another decade if their big answer out of this is Petr Mrazek
Sounds like the type of half-assed move Holland would make. He’s cheap AF.

McDavid should have never committed long term with an org. that doesn’t want to do what it takes to win.

Let them dig their own grave.

Perry to the Oil is good. Mrazek? Garbage and clearly not any better than what's there. If that's Holland's lifeline deal, he's cooked after this season as GM

Bouchard is horrendous defensively, I would take Guhle over him every single time.

Holland has already indicated that this is his last season.

Mrazek is an UFA, so as long as the Oilers don't sell out to trade Campbell, I'd say they would position themselves nicely for the deadline and next summer/season.

Plenty of depth players that can be signed for the 5M plus the cap increase.

Doesn't really fix their goalie problem I don't think.
They don’t need to fix it right away, they need a short term adrenaline boost to get the team going & buy time till deadline when market prices will inevitably decrease as more sellers enter the fold
