Just heard Stephane Waite say on 98.5 that, according to his contacts around the league, Jake Allen is worth maybe a 4th round pick at 50% retained.

With the shortage of good goalies around the league, i have a hard time believing that.
Waite never liked Allen, He loves Primeau though , he probably says that Primeau is worth a first

It's shocking to me that Edmonton hasn't made a trade. It's hard to underscore how hard it is to make up the points lost early in the season. They will have to play as one of the league's top clubs for the next 60 games to be able to make the playoffs. Hard to imagine that is possible with that defense and goaltending.

Well, every GM see them coming and they have nothing of interest to trade outside their 1st RD pick. They will get exploited if they move now.

If they trade it, IF, they will surely aim higher than fckng Montembeault.

Would Bouchard help us? We're set on d for the next 17 years.

If we ever landed Bouchard, I'd hope we'd trade him for a forward or a good draft pick.
He has more points than anyone on our team

He would be our most important RHD by far, he is what Barron and Mailloux turn into as a best case scenario

Reinbacher has struggled this year and still looks 2 years away, Hutson is probably 2 years away as well. Those are the 2 we are relying on to carry the load offensively from the backend, and they aren't very close.

Bouchard would be a much better option on PP1 than Matheson, and I think the Oilers are willing to move him because they need to commit to team defense.

If you can make that deal and then swing Matheson + for Mercer we are in business

The 1st isn't to get a player, it's to move Campbell's salary out which they have to do to have cap space to do any trades this year.

Many Oilers fans want to move him because of his play in the defensive end.

I wish lol Bouchard is exactly what we need on right d
I mena this in the most respectful way possible, but have you guys ever picked up a remote ? Bouchard is a terrible, terrible defenseman. He's Matheson on roids when it comes to making defensive mistakes. He is not a player you win with, he's literally MAB.

Yes but unlike Matheson it's possible he improves some defensively and if not he is head and shoulders better offensively which we desperately need

Ive been watchibg this player since late 2016. There is no chance his defensive or transition play improves. Hutson may be that guy one day, and well deal with him then.

Wasting assets to acquire such a flawed player would be incredibly stupid.

I don't really think that one of our 3 mediocre goalies is considered an asset but clearly I'm not going to change your mind on this so fair enough

What asset would we be wasting? None of our goalies are worth anything, and losing Kovacevic, Harris, or Savard means nothing

Bouchard as a 2 year stop gap for Reinbacher and Hutson at least makes the team more fun to watch, and is guaranteed to improve the power play

Maybe a little bit but he would still be far and away our best offensive d
And our worst d on defense.

Monty is better than anything Edmonton has. Primeau might be. Thee is probablynothing better out there. For example Mrazek is crap compared to Monty.

Well if our goalies are truly an asset I'd rather get Bouchard than Holloway or Borgault just my personal choice I think he would be more useful to us

Campbell
holloway
2024 second round pick
2025 first round pick

for
montembeault
kovacetic
Harris
I would think Holloway, a 1st, and a 2nd would be close to the price to dump Campbell's contract alone. I think Kovacevic could get a 2nd. Not sure about Harris. I think Montembault could get at least a 2nd.

Habs never put him on waivers, so they must have thought he'd been claime
I think Allen is a very good number 2. At 50% retained he's a really good asset.

But if the return is only a 3rd, is it worth using a retention spot?

No, it's not worth it, even with no retention.

Montembault- Allen have been a good tandem this year. What is Montembault-Allen 50% retained worth? What is that tandem worth if we take Cam0bell's contract back?
It's worth something the Oilers can't afford or willing to give.

Dreger said this morning that the Oilers want other teams to take on Campbell basically for free in a trade where they give young assets for other players.
So they want double value for their assets...lol
No wonder they can't make a trade.

I think you are forgetting that chicago
Is likely also bidding to get in on the action
Which makes the potential deal less one sided
