To Mtl
Ceci, 1st '24 (top 5 protected), conditional '25 2nd (if oilers make playoffs &/or they re-sign Monty)

To Edm
Kovacevic, Monty

Oilers get goaltending upgrade and perhaps beneficial RD swap while creating ~1.5M in cap space this year (& offload Ceci's '24-25 3.25M cap hit).

Habs add 1st & potential 2nd for Monty/Kovy & taking on Ceci's extra year (who may be a decent short term fit with Barron/Savard for next year at RD & if not can probably be moved relatively easily this summer)

Feels like the time is ripe for a Chicago deal...

Hall out for season.
Perry dealing with an issue
Foligno & AA dealing with injuries.

To Chi
Anderson

To Mtl
'25 2nd, conditional '26 2nd (if Anderson plays 65+ games or scores 25+ goals in '24-'25)

I want MORE.
For which part?

Monty or Kovacevic?
(Or for taking on Ceci's contract?)

The Oilers gave up Hutson for Kulak and then gave him $11,000,000 lmfao

Bourgault/Holloway numbers are abysmal Mysak and Pezzeta produced more so far
They gave up a pick for him. What that pick is used for is a different matter.

Just like people saying the Habs gave up Debrincat for Shaw. They gave up the pick that Chicago used to get him

What’s this in-cider guy saying? First he claims that all options should be considered outside of the two main assets but then he leaves first rounders out from the list.

It begins with a first rounder and not too heavily protected. That or Holland can enjoy his free fall.

Oilers are looking at internal options at the goalie position including bringing Campbell back up.

What a shit show that is. If I owned this team I would fire Holland on the spot.
They won't do anything, they want a cheap bargain and to not have to pay anything to dump cap.

In other words, they want Celebrini!!!!

Occasionally, you can tell when a team is feeding an insider PR. Rarely, but sometimes.

I refuse to believe that anyone, including Johnston, really believes that the Oilers are seriously considering that a potential fix is calling up the guy they just sent to the AHL and who has a 0.873 save percentage in both the NHL and AHL this season, just because he had one shutout. That's the quality of goaltending Laval is getting from Dobes and Mann.
Clearly.

They want to make it seem like they have internal options and not that desperate in order to keep some leverage in trade negotiations.
Just ridiculous. Nobody is buying it.

made me think of a “The Wire” scene with this wishful thinking (our 1st rd pick is off the table)

Pearson may fill the bill although maybe not fully tip the scales on factor 2.

Allen has factors 1 and 3.

They could check all of the boxes by getting multiple players in a deal with the Habs.

The whole package. It’s not enough of a return to get a 1st that could end up in the high 20’s or worse if Edmonton gets their heads out of their ass. Monty would only help them get better and Habs get a worse pick. But adding Kovy and taking Ceci makes the deal worse. I’d go Monty for a 1st straight up but swapping Kovy for Ceci and eating all that cash for Edmonton would need a sweetener for me. Whether you it’s a Halloway/another prospect Habs like or more picks, like two 2nds.

Oops, misread your post — you meant what other suitors are available to dispatch a goalie. If Holland is willing to put a 1st rounder on the table and its protection is not too stringent, several are sure to come forward.
You need an inexpensive goalie who can play that is not intimidated by playing in fanatical Canadian markets, there aren't many on the trade block that fit that description.

Insiders who have never played hockey or been in management, should always have their hockey opinions be discarded, unless its Bobby Mack.

What's the hope in Edmonton with no 1sts on the table? Make perimeter level improvements, dancing around the cap while waiting for the cap raise next year? At some point you have to stop flushing seasons down the toilet, though this one seems lost already.

We chew them and spit them out in this thread cause most of the time, their asses are doing the talking. They don’t know all that much more than we do.

On occasion teams do turn it around like St. Louis did in Jan 2019. I think they had the worst record and went on to win the cup. Edmonton has not a day to waste.
