so you're agreeing that its a great idea right
I’m not saying it’s a bad idea, I’m just saying that we’re going to look like the Washington Generals against the rest of the league with those two between the pipes.

From the Oilers I’d want:

Bourgeault, Holloway, unprotected 2024 1st, if I was taking on that Campbell contract.

its a disgusting contract but you need to jump on that first if its unprotected no doubt

Bourgault is the level of Riley Kidney. We definitely do not need more quantity of "non elite prospects". Edmonton is totally dry of prospects, they really can only offer picks.
I do not think we are the trading partner for Campbell contract unless we switch Gally/Anderson the other way. Gally has NTC clause and Anderson is on all-time low, so Hughes would be crazy to trade him now.
If I was EDM, I would be aiming for the package like: Allen, Kovacevic/Harris, Evans/Pezzetta/Ylonen and maybe a prospect like Mysak/Kidney. This would improve them across all departments they need.

Make them bet on themselves and take their first round pick this season. And it has to be unprotected because that Campbell contract is that bad.

You guys have any interest in Nylander in the off season?

Probably an 11 mil guy, and would require us to move on from at the very least Anderson.

Nylander would look fantastic in our top 6.

Nylander - Suzuki - Caufield
Slaf - Dach - Newhook
Heinemen - Money - Roy

Yes we have a whole thread discussing the idea :)

Perfect timing to trade Monty. Finish the season with Allen and Primeau
Get a good pick from Edmonton and a French prospect to appease the media and well let’s be honest most Francophone fans.

Boohoo moving on from Andy? What a shame.

Depends on term and cash, hes gonna be 28. Wouldn't commit over 6 years.

Reinhart probably comes in cheaper and fits in better tho.

I'd honestly be a little surprised if Hughes pulled the trigger on a tanking move this early in the season.

I have zero interest in him either, all I want is the pick. Honestly though it would be a travesty in the French community if they trade Monty away and not get back another Quebecer or two.

This 3 goaltender thing has to end.
Besides the Oilers are very very desperate at the moment.
It will most probably end up being Allen for the worst goalie contract in the NHL since Depietro and a pick

1 week I didn’t come in that thread and where still talking about trading for Jack Campbell ?
For this week, we’re going to include the annoying milquetoast, platitude generator Sean Campbell as an outgoing piece in any deal for that equally craptastic Jack Campbell.

See, different from last week. :sarcasm:

At this point, wouldn’t it just make more sense for the Oilers to trade away non Mcdavid or Draisaitl offensive pieces to fill out other holes?

I mean Hyman has been great, but I’m sure they could get some good young goalie or dman for him if he was made available.

Same for RNH or Kane.

In other words, lose some offense but get back multiple assets to fill other areas of need

It's really something that we can't think of a single Edmonton prospect that we'd want.
This in a nutshell is why the Oilers have been garbage for the past 15 years.

Their drafting has been worse than ours, which is saying a lot.

Every one of their picks outside of their 1-1 has amounted to nothing

They need to try to move out Campbell and Cesi. Those two are movable with the right package of futures attached. It would be great if they could move out Nurse too. But that doesn't seem possible.

Oilers fans are complaining about Evan Bouchard defensively and also want him out.

What do we get added in the following deals:

To MTL: Cesi + ?
To EDM: Kovacevic or Savard 50% retained.

To MTL: Campbell + ????
To EDM: Montembault or Allen 50% retained

This sounds good in theory but they have zero depth scoring. Zero. Here are the goals scored by forwards:

Hyman - 10
Kane - 8
Mcdavid - 6
Draisaitl - 6
RNH - 3
Derek Ryan - 3
Sam Gagner - 2

You take out Hyman or Kane and wow that's a team with zero scoring depth, basically one line.

They can't afford to lose anybody. Best decision they could do is trade Draisaitl for a huge package of pieces. But that would take balls.
