I doubt there is a single team in the league ready to take Campbell's multi-year contract at $5m and only get a 1st first for it.Just his theory but.......
Dreger revealed that the two general managers are in frequent communication at the moment.
He added that regarding a trade involving goaltender Jack Campbell 's big contract , Dreger stressed that he would be surprised if discussions had not taken place between the two teams.
He also clarified that the Oilers had considered offloading Campbell's contract, but that doing so required at least a first-round pick.
The question then arises: if Kent Hughes received an offer similar to the one discussed below, would you be in favor of this trade?
In Montreal: 1st round 2024 + Xavier Bourgault + Jack Campbell
In Edmonton: Samuel Montembeault
I’m not even sure Bourgeault and their 1st is enough to take on Campbell’s contract let alone give them Monty on top of it. Why would the Habs do the Oilers a favor?Just his theory but.......

Id be willing to do Soup, Holloway, 2024 first (top 3 protect) and 2025 first (top 16 protect) for Monty and Kovacevic but not worth it otherwise. Not enough.
I'd want the 2025 1st, too.
agreed... see IF this is real or not.. Make Ken H pay KentI doubt there is a single team in the league ready to take Campbell's multi-year contract at $5m and only get a 1st first for it.
Not enough. Habs got a 1st for taking one year of Monny. 5 years of useless Campbell is worth the value of at least three 1sts IMO. Add Monty to the deal and that's more.Just his theory but.......

They would buy Jack C out for sureNot enough. Habs got a 1st for taking one year of Monny. 5 years of useless Campbell is worth the value of at least three 1sts IMO. Add Monty to the deal and that's more.
a 1st and Bourgeault is a no go for me.
Especially not this team that has to do cap gymnastics every year with Price 10.5M contract every yearI doubt there is a single team in the league ready to take Campbell's multi-year contract at $5m and only get a 1st first for it.
The Habs would be paying Allen + Campbell + Price over 18M annually.I’m not even sure Bourgeault and their 1st is enough to take on Campbell’s contract let alone give them Monty on top of it. Why would the Habs do the Oilers a favor?
That will be a looong buyout so yes, it’s gonna be expensive for Edmonton to move or they can buy him out themselves if n the off-season and further screw their cap with McJesus and Drai contracts coming up in the next couple years. They would buy Jack C out for sure
But they need to bleed EDM
But really, would one of the hab goalies really help them?
Just his theory but.......

Technically, Holland would be spending multiple 1st to get cap space and not to get a slight upgrade in net.Man what a sad team the oilers are lol
Have to spend multiple 1sts just to get a slight upgrade in net lmao. Holland really f*cked them
Yes as long as 1st rounder is unprotectedJust his theory but.......

I pass personally. Bourgault I have no use for. He's Drouinish. Monty is worth a 2nd. So we are getting an upgrade from Oilers 2nd to their first for eating a Gallagher type contract? Pass, hard pass.Just his theory but.......

Yeah gotta be more assets than that to take Campbell.I pass personally. Bourgault I have no use for. He's Drouinish. Monty is worth a 2nd. So we are getting an upgrade from Oilers 2nd to their first for eating a Gallagher type contract? Pass, hard pass.
That seems like a fair price.I'd want Holloway over Bourgault, although both are so-so prospects, but I think Holloway has an NHL game.
Definitely want more than a 1st in draft picks. Monty is cheap. We take on a huge contract AND we free up $2,5m in cap space for the Oilers.
I guess technically you can call Holloway plus a 2024 1st, two 1sts, but then I want two 2nds along with that.
Holloway, 2024 1st, 2025 & 2026 2nds.
