Montreal might need to dangle a third round pick to acquire a middling center after Monahan is gone. Even with moving Newhook to centre, I don't like having Evans and Condotta/Stephens as the other two.

We don't have any developing centres apart from Suzuki on the team so it wouldn't even cut anyone's ice time. That and Montreal should try to refrain from pulling too many resources from Laval who are pushing for the playoffs.

I doubt it, they will just suck it up for the 16 or so games instead of wasting an asset. Stephens/Condotta haven't been liabilities as the 4C. If they didn't pick up Ruzicka to keep both Stephens/Condotta in Laval then I doubt they will waste an asset to do it when we have fewer games left.

Dubois can't be this bad though? Just six months, back in July, a Gallagher for Dubois trade this board be 100% in favour of it. Now about 10%.
PLD will be back and playing really well. And then he will stink again. He is unreliable and a head case.

Nobody is talking about trading Anderson. Now I like what he can bring and he has played hard and had bad luck this year. No rush to trade him. Imagine though him and Monahan in a package ? That would bring back a top asset, as in an A prospect or very good high ceiling young player who isn't contributing just yet.

They'll have Beck soon enough

No one is talking about him because his value plummeted. Maybe next year but I think his best trade value years are behind him

Interestingly, Turcotte recalled by the Kings...if there is anyone that could use a change of scenery it's this guy. A once highly touted young center that played with Caufield.
Perhaps he was who was offered for Xhekaj.

Looking at young forwards that are either stuck behind other talent or could use a change:
Turcotte
Hayton
Kakko
Kaliyev
Holtz
Krebs
Drury
Veleno
Wahlstrom
Rasmussen
Berggren
R Suzuki
Frost
Lundestrom
Dellandrea
Glass
Olivier-Groulx

There is also Kotkaniemi which would be hilarious

Oh for Price sake.

It will take way, way more than a 3rd round pick to find a player capable of replacing the 2013 6OA that we are fortunate to have on our team. The guy is pacing 58 points while often having low-impact wingers, and is a strong faceoff man to boot.

Extend Monahan and stop worrying about the cap implications of injuries.

There was a lot of rumors of Anderson being moved in the past 2 seasons and I think KH could have gotten a decent package but I guess he wanted more and thought he was better than what he actually is. Teams figure it out and IMO aren't ready to pay that much for him, can't really blame them for not taking a chance. I don't see him being moved.

He does this every single year with Montreal. It’s like he has a personal mission to devalue their players. They’re the only team he constantly does this to.
I got news for you Friedman. Nobody, and especially GM's, give a damn about your worthless player evaluations.

Of course he wanted more. There would need to be retention and HuGo is not giving up a spot for years for less than a 1st and a low 1st would require more.

They could buy out his last year, but if he comes back in September and plays healthy till the deadline, that might be another 2nd rounder or 3rd.
The words “ playing well” and “healthy” can never be used in the same sentence with Dvorak

I would expect a buyout - absolutely no team will want him even if he makes it to the TDL.

What a horrible trade that was

He should have been traded 2 years ago, because people still believed in what they hoped he'd become.

But, well, here we are.
the biggest issue in Anderson case is the contract, it is just too much and too long, it kill any value he might have.

Yes and hopefully traded in the off season and never coming back

I don't see any rush to trade him even if he isn't part of the futur, If Monahan isn't back he can take some defensive responsibility off Suzuki and Dach and might help ease in a guy like Beck. Also is value is at a all time low, so might as well wait and give him time to get back to normal by the next TDL, in is final year if we retain 50% we might get some value for a team looking for depth and faceoff specialist.

If anyone is foolish enough to value Anderson enough to give up an asset for him without sending back bad cap $, I'd hope KH jumps at it.

The small benefit his size and physicality brings is replaceable with a much cheaper, clear bottom 6/4th line player or two. He's useless playing on a line with talented player's, puck dies on his stick so frequently it's almost as if he's forgotten how to play.

Hopefully the minutes he's still getting in the top 6 are a deliberate attempt to pump his value before offloading him (though it may backfire as it gives opposing scouts are clear demonstration of his severe limitations)

He's good on faceoffs and is a big guy. If we can retain half his salary we'll find a taker at the deadline 2025. Return wont be great though.
