This is how Jets value prospects apparently - says McGroarty is basically untouchable...
Salomonsson too...
Probably Lambert too...
Barlow MAYBE available for monster price...

Their fans MAY be willing to offer a 7th for Monahan tho...

If Monahan is heathy at the deadline he's not leaving Montreal unless a first or a prospect of equivalent value is offered and since couple of teams will likely be interested it will likely require a + to get it done.

People need to land on earth. Monahan has 19 goals and 51 points in his last 72 games with us which is a pace of 58 points in 82 games. He can play all 3 forwards position and is good on faceoffs and certainly not terrible defensively.

It's not like his current production is out of the ordinary for him. In career he has 231 goals and 513 points in 729 games which is the same pace he has this year. His career production in playoffs is about the same as the regular season (pace of 57 points every 82 playoffs games). As long as GMs are convinced he is healthy atm he wont go for cheap.

I think the team could benefit by asking for a 1st and then getting a counter of another dach/newhook type. could be a great opportunity to build a real top9 and some desperately needed goals from the forwards

PLD sees them for what couple of hrs 3-4 times per week?

I’d feel perfectly fine being blasted for a few hrs a week then heading to Manhattan beach - as Stamkos said about being in the beach in TBay “no one knows who I am”
I think Stamkos is talking about fans.
I'm talking about being respected by his teammates.

You're aware that half the games are on the road, right?

I would take a look at Laine
Liked him since draft Day
25 years old

Pftt..I had suggested Laine as a potential draft day acquisition as an established young offensive top 6 based on my opinion that these are not available without reasons. Only to be ridiculed. We're not going to get the ideal established young top 6 offensive star. Target those that come with some warts, because it's doable. That's how Hughes got Dach and Newhook. Personally I would try to package Monahan for Kakko. Their playoff aspirations and Chytil's injury might make them desperate enough to go for it.

All that for under 2 millions.

Maybe Philadelphia becomes a player for Allen. Since losing Hart, they've lost 5 games in a row, and have given up 27 goals. A 5.4 ga/g rate.
Lavoie kind of hinted at it, and I think it's Primeau.. Who knows if / when Hart returns; they'd have their young goalie who has a flyers' connection. That may be why Habs are scouting philly.

Yeah, I can see it. They love to bring back old Flyers, and he's the son of a famous one. Primeau's played ok, especially against the Flyers.

I wonder if they'd have any interest in Gally/Risto swap as part of that...

To Philly
Primeau, Gally, Kovacevic

To Mtl
Ristolainen

Mtl bets on Risto not declining much over next 4 yrs, remaining an expensive but solid bottom pair RD as we slowly bring along Mailloux/RB/Konyushkov on the right side.

Flyers get Primeau & Kovacevic for the cost for the 1.4M delta btw Risto & Gally... And bet on Gally holding on as a bottom 6 vet...

I'd throw in Minny's 3rd to push it over the line, but not more than that

How does Allen help them?
He does not. But desperation can be very dangerous. They were on their way to the playoffs and all the Tortorella apologists were glamouring his name (like last year). It depends where Brière stands. If he's a good GM and he was only waiting for an opportunity to fire Tort and put a more modern coach in place then he'll do nothing. If he was in the "playoffs at all cost" camp then he could be desperate like when MB acquired Dvorak even though he was mot helping us.

They can't attract free agents and have trouble holding onto players long term - the reality of being in Winnipeg. It makes sense why they would hold on to their prospects.
Like Scheifele, Connor, Hellebuyck, Morrisey, Ehlers, all of which signed long term deals. Are you sure you thought that through? Losing only Trouba & Kane, both of which wanted out due to personal reasons.
Also, they are not alone in having difficulty signing free agents, Montreal is also in that boat.

He provides league average goaltending, which is something that they're not close to getting right now, but chances are they're more interested in Primeau, since there's a connection.
As nice as it would be to move Allen, his last few games he’s been awful. I’d think a team who’s trying to make waves in the playoffs would go after a better goalie if they were serious IMO. Allen doesn’t move anyone’s needle unless he’s basically free and with retention.

In the summer of 2025 the Habs won't be a contender. They likely won't even be a playoff team unless prospects take some huge strides, they get lucky at the draft and they sign some quality ufas, or make a trade for a quality player.
It's not just the Habs who won't be contenders in the summer of 25. It's the whole league.

In recent memory - Trouba, Kane, PLD, Laine, and lots of talk about Scheifele and Hellebuyck not re-signing before they both got 7yr contracts at 30yrs old. These all happened for various reasons but there's a definite narrative around the "Winnipeg tax" paid for keeping guys. Many players don't want to play in Winnipeg and they're regularly 1st/2nd for most common teams on No-Trade lists.

MTL would also be smart to hold onto prospects and develop players in-house. It's a problem.

Friedman was on tonight game, said Rangers looking at Monahan. They looking for 2 centers. Monahan has a lot of respect around the league for coming back from all injuries he had.

Also said Ottawa after Tanev. They seek character. Could we trade Savard and sign Tanev this off season,?

Monahan discussed about a third of the way in, right after the Team Canada court case:
