It's only 1.5M because they no longer need to cover the player Gallagher replaces on the roster.

Edmonton needs a home town boy like Gallagher to bring grit to their overly finesse game.
If Campbelk is in the minors, the Oilers save 1M on the cap. So if Gallagher is up versus cambell being down in the minors, then Gally is 2.5M more against the cap.

Savard is not getting traded this season. The RDs are not developed to the point they don't need his babysitting anymore and the Habs have zero NHL depth at the position.

Matheson is the one who is expendable and LD is where the team needs to open spots for the young players. But that's probably an off-season trade with his term.

His value may never be as high as right now (I know, it's still not much) and keeping him may not help as we are not in win mode. Beside, like you said this would free up a spot on LD which would allow to play hudson (if he sign) or Arber.

Down side is that you now have to rely on Barron on the PP (at least until Husdon come over)

How is that a downside?

Barron over Matheson on PP1 should already be a thing.

I dont like Barron: poor decision making and he handle the puck too often like a grenade and I'm wondering to what extent Ghule's struggle recently are due to him being paired with Barron.

I dont see him as part of the future to be honest.

Ghule - X
Hudson - Reinb
Arber - Mailloux

English is not my first language. I tought it was clear the way I said it. I will be willing to offer something in theses assets. Not all of then. Its pretty wild to think someone would offer all this players for Zegras. You guys are funny.

I would for sure offer Stubble, Roy and Calgary1st for Zegras.
Seeing as it is worth nothing, I'm willing to give my, or another's, stubble for Zegras.

I want to offersheet Elias Petterson...

Do you think Vancouver matches a $13M AAV cap hit and if so, how high would we have to go to make it happen....or, forget about it and keep the picks

Do you mean grit or grits? Unfortunately, Gallagher's body no longer can bring the former.

Think Jersey since they’ve already dealt with each other in the TT deal in the summer?

People in the comments section of Weekes' tweet are saying Devils or Canes. But it's obvious they're saying those teams since they're known to be looking for help at goal.

And according to Seravalli, he spoke to Avs' GM and and he told him they're looking to address their goaltending.

Yeah, was just going through the main thread. I guess we’ll find out.

Don’t think Avs can afford his contract.

This team still needs Savard at least until the end of this season, and even next season. Reinbacher and Mailloux are a good year and a half away from NHL hockey.
I don’t believe so…..he’s a luxury to have for sure but we were doing quit fine without him!!

Our D already plays a pretty mature game, I’m not seeing any Beaulieu’s in our lineup that needs training wheels and stickers to build and prop up.

Struble is a deliight….Xhekaj is rounding out his game in the A, Guhle is just about there, Kovacevic is solid….I really like this group minus Savard.

Moving Savard accomplishes several things-
Gets the Habs a good return.
Opens up a space for younger players.
Makes the Habs worse in the short term which might help the rebuild on draft day.

I think all 3 teams will have to do some cap gymnastics to fit Markstrom onto their roster. Neither of them can fit his cap just like that.

Some might have an easier solution than others, but whether it be Avs, Devils or Canes, they will need to either send a roster player back to make the money work and/or place one of their injured players on LTIR if they qualify for it. For example, Canes can place Andersen on LTIR and use his $3.4M as cap relief.

Regarding the Canes also, there were rumors saying they'd be willing to move Michael Bunting in a deal to address their goaltending. Bunting has another 2 years after this one @ $4.5M AAV while Markstrom also has another 2 years after this one @ $6M AAV. If they simply move Bunting in a deal for Markstrom, then all Canes are adding to their cap is $1.5M.

Exactly…….I’d even retain salary…..I’m convinced we’d get 2 seconds for him.

He’s a cup winner that plays a smart game and can bust the move when need be.

Some recent goalie injuries might help us maximize our value on Allen, get it done Hughes
