There's no debate about that. Dach never scored more than 26 pts when he was acquired. Zegras already has multiple 60+pts seasons.

By the same account, hes also better than Cole? Hes worth around what Suzuki is? They both have two 60 points seasons!

Not to mention that I do think that playing with his best friend Cole and under a coach who he was praising for a while might give him the motivation to at least be adequate in that department since his skill level isn't the issue.

The cost won't be cheap but I can't give in due to his flaws. Not really sure what the Ducks would want either since they are loaded with dmen prospects and will also have a top 5 pick this year. Most we can really offer would be Barron+Newhook+ but Ducks likely want a hockey trade and grab a forward that suits their style better than Zegras in a 1 for 1 trade.

Yeah, the only thing Montreal can offer is that they have cap flexibility (can take on his salary) and a lot of depth assets. I'm not sure I'd even go Barron+Newhook+ for him, but I wonder if there'd be interest in a Xhekaj or Mailloux as part of a trade. Ducks have A LOT of really good D prospects, but Warren is the only guy with the kind of physical impact upside of Xhekaj or Mailloux.

At the end of the day, the fit may just not be there.

Would you trade Caufield for Troy Terry? He has two 60P seasons and a 30G season, Caufield's career high is 26G and 43P....

This comparison makes no sense. Terry is 3-4 years older, and Caufield would've scored about the same amount as Terry if not for injuries.

Dach was a 20-something point scorer over almost a full season.

Zegras is as good as Cole. Cole missed games, but he was pacing for a similar season Zegras had.

Suzuki is worth more at this point because he's not much older than Zegras, and scores the same amount of points while bringing other stuff to the table as well.

I think that deal with Detroit was more about doing a solid to Petry than it was about anything else. And Lindstrom was more about exchanging roster players. And Habs probably saw it as bringing in a younger RD and see what happens since they needed depth on the right side.

They have Savard and Kovacevic, they weren't sure how Barron would do, Mailloux would be in Laval, and Wideman is out long term with possibly a career-ending injury.

Zegras isn't prime offensive talent. I love his skill level, but his defensive game/compete/softness is Drouin-like.
