Dach was traded because he couldn't produce at an adequate level. Zegras will get traded since he sucks defensively, has no compete, is soft, and can't play center. Very different circumstances.
That is ridiculous. He was traded because they decided to empty the cupboard to get Dach. His injury history could play a part. If it had anything to do with performance the GM is a moron.

Absolute spoiled brat. Disrespecting legends like John LeClair.
I guess his favourite era of the Pens was Crosby's whiny rookie season when he was a 1 year old. I thought he may have hated Daniel "the original rat" Briere because of his playing days, but I realize the Flyers bought him out when Gauthier was 9 or 10. He may have barely even seen that rivalry as not a lot of young kids stay up to watch entire games although they did destroy the pens in 2012 maybe that was a core memory. He probably hated guys like Giroux, Voracek and Simmonds a lot more. Maybe even Couturier, who was seemingly LTIRetired and then came back after Gauthier was drafted after missing the entire 2022-23 season.

Anyways, can't believe people want to trade for a guy who dismisses greats of the past directly. It's ok to ignore what they're saying in the context of your play, but not even giving them the time of day when they reach out is pretty rude.

Although I think it is something that happens more frequently than some think, the Flyers are in full damage control mode cutting Cutter's feet from under him and giving him bad press around the league. I would think the NHL steps in and fines the Flyers at some point, this is beyond petty at this point. I would guess these incidents happen with every time, only the organizations don't crap on the players to this extent. Perhaps the Flyers know Drysdale isn't going to be that great and are taking all the pressure off him by talking about how much everyone should hate Gauthier.

They made it obvious that they were hoping for more out of him. If he was tracking well as the 3rd OA, why didn't they get more than the 13th OA?

What could the Ducks want for Zegras though? It feels like they're stacked at every position, and I wouldn't trade our 2024 1st for him.

I'm not his biggest fan but he would still be our most skilled player in 20+ years. I would never play him at center but as Dach's LW... now add a balanced RW with size at the draft...

Zegras - Dach - Nygard
Caufield - Suzuki - Slaf

that's pretty sick.
I think Hughes will definitely try to add a young top six forward either at the TDL or the offseason.

I look forward to seeing what Hughes will add to what we're already starting out with going forward:

Caufield - Suzuki - Slaf
Newhook - Dach - Ylonen
RHP - Monahan/Dvo/Beck - Roy
Gallagher - Evans - Anderson/Heineman
Pez

Guhle - Barron
Hutson - Reinbacher
Xhekaj - Maillloux/Struble/Engstrom/Matheson/Bogdan/Harris/Savard/kovacevic/Lindstrom

Montembault
Fowler/Primeau/Allen

A lot of trade chips going forward.

Im just thinking of the TSN highlights. I want to see the Michigan at the Bell centre but us doing it! Is that selfish?
I do too. That is why i'm intrigued about the idea of him playing in MTL. Would I trade our best assets for him? Most likely not. So unless they want a Farell or Primeau, i'm not sure what kind a deal can be made here. They have enough D.

Zegras is 100% not Verbeek's type of player.

I am not saying he is available, but if you track the Verbeek moves since he became GM they are diametrically opposite of Zegras.

Zegras is soft and plays soft, and is a black hole defensively. 2022 Caufield is a Selke winner compared to Zegras (I cite 2022 because he has improved a lot). His compete defensively is zero.
OK so that's why i don't want to give major pieces for him. That being said, i'm fully aware of the type of player he is but we certanly could use his offense on our team.

Dach was literally so they could get Bedard. They must have known the NHL would rig it if they finished low enough (or were very dumb). They sold Dach, Debrincat, Hagel, and Fleury for scraps at the 2022 deadline/off-season. They literally didn't even qualify a 60-point center RFA in Strome or a 40-point guy in Kubalik. Traded Kane and shutdown Toews for the year. Didn't sign Gustaffsson or De Haan who were playing significant minutes for them. Traded McCabe as long as everyone they did sign the following deadline. They didn't even sign a starting goalie.

They literally could have walked into the 2023 season with Debincat-Strome-Kane, Hagel-Toews-Dach as their top six and made the playoffs if they'd shored up the D a little and kept a goalie. They had the pieces to re-tool.

I think they set the new record on most intentional tank, surpassing the Pens for Lemieux. This year their roster is even worse minus Bedard, who is now injured. They mysteriously let go Perry who was having a great year. Suddenly everyone who is playing well goes down for minor injuries they'd normally play through. Korchinski is getting big minutes when he's not even NHL-caliber yet but it hurts them in the standings.

Don't be surprised when Foligno, Beauvillier and Johnson are suddenly ready to go closer to the deadline when they can be flipped.

Back to back OT goals in the 1993 Stanley Cup Finals.

I mean this is a very silly conspiracy theory. Debrincat's QO was a disaster and they didn't want to deal with uncertainty, they did not undersell Hagel at the time, and nobody beat our offer meaning that it wasn't like Dach still had the same value of a 3rd overall pick. Hawks wanted to blow it up, but they didn't stupidly lose a young piece for nothing.

Well according to Philly beat writer, Flyers offered up Gauthier to HuGo specifically to grab Redenbacher at 5OA knowing Yotes would take a Dman at 6, and having Michkov fall to 7
Ariz at 6 let slip they are taking DR at 6. You are Philly. You see the DR at 5 and MM at 7 scenario BUT do you run the risk of Ariz bluffing or trading down a few spots?

who was their main target? Reinbacher? I dont think so.

Big mobile defensemen who can handle the puck usually go on to be main part of Cup team. Why many GMs wanted Reinbacher over more offensive skilled players.
Maybe those teams that wanted RB, already had their offensive skilled players in tow? Who do we have, outside of Roy, in the pipeline?

Time will tell if RB was the best available at his draft slot since I don’t believe in drafting for needs at such an early pick.

There's a reason why Ducks want to trade him, he's a heavily flawed player.
We’re also a heavily flawed, piss poor offensive organization. Our fans are rightfully offended, having waited some 30 years for a prime offensive talent.

I don’t care how they get him, just get him.

Reliable media source said it was. Cant remember who exactly, but when it came out, there was no "second guessing" the source of the info.

Zegras isn't prime offensive talent. I love his skill level, but his defensive game/compete/softness is Drouin-like.
