Tribute Former Stars Thread

Loui officially retired today.

It’s a shame most remember him for his bad years, especially with the Canucks. Loui was unreal during his entire tenure with the Stars.

He was a great player who got completely f***ed by concussions.

John Scott is forever a piece of shit for his hit that started it all.

I've griped about Stankoven a bit this season. It was based on a bit of worry about what his top end really but was mostly disappointment about where he is today. When he was called up last season, he was awesome for a couple of weeks. He was scoring at will and puckjacking dudes and winning puck battles. Then it trailed off. To where he gave them next to nothing in the playoffs.

The same happened this season where he started off with a couple of productive weeks and dropped off to be just a guy since then. He wasn't showing any signs of being helpful in the playoffs yet.

This is the problem with rookies. Their development is hard to project, and it's also hard to count on them. My guess is he was going to be the forward eating scratches when Seguin came back because DeBoer kept moving him around the lineup and never found a spot where he found consistency.

Maybe he will find the gear allowing him to be consistently good. I hope he does. He's a fun guy to watch. But the team now and for the near future just got a whole lot better.

Agreed Troy. I was the biggest Stank stan coming into the season but there were very worrying signs. The more I watched his game the more I resigned myself that his projection was nothing more than a Yanni Gourde type.

I wish him well and will be a fan of his career but am happy the Stars moved him over Mavs.

Yup, I wish him the best, but seeing how this season has trended, my current prediction is that he will end up as a solid regular season scorer around PPG who then goes largely quiet in the playoffs. I'm just not sure he's got the right combination of speed/skill/smarts to still produce when the whistles go away and the big boys start getting grabby in the D zone.

Since this team wants to win a Cup, that's just not the right player for them.
