Dorion thinks he’s negotiating with himself. What a muppet.

I mean you gotta start somewhere. If someone wants to trade for someone on the Flyers do you think you should start high or just say "here is as low as I am willing to go" and take the other team's first offer? I'm more concerned that the Flyers are looking to trade for Craig Anderson than the fact that thethe Senat asked for a first rounder.

Look, the core of my point about trading Ghost is that we are not looking at the player dispassionately enough.

We all love that he's this diamond in the 3rd round rough who plays balls out, exciting offensive hockey and has put up good numbers. He makes the most out of his talent, and he has considerable talent.

But those limitations are crystal clear. This player is a specialist. He's not a guy you can bank on in all situations, particularly if you're building a team for a playoff run.

They should look and listen.

I get it. You love the guy and he had 60 points in a season. It was amazing.

He was by far our best defenseman last year on a team that isn't super deep on defense. I'm open to listening to offers on anybody, I just can't see the Flyers getting something in return that matches Ghost's value.

But I get it he is having a down year like the rest of the team and, some people just don't understand hockey.

Provorov was better for 2/3 of the season and Ghost was brutal in the playoffs.

Another snide emotional comment. Can't we discuss this player like men instead of like awestruck fans?

People forget how bad Provy looked in the 2nd half. The issues he is having this year were the same as then. Gostisbehere was 100% the better defenseman for the vast majority of the season. But why would I continue to discuss this with you when you clearly have no idea what you are talking about?

Come down off your high horse and maybe we'll talk.

Not wanting to trade Ghost doesn't mean we're awestruck. He's not Lidstrom, but every team has a need for a player like Ghost and we definitely shouldn't be trading him in the middle of a slump.

Marc-Andre Bergeron was a specialist. Ghost is a top 2 or top 3 defenseman who has been playing in front of average to below average goalies during his NHL career.

He’s signed to a great deal, too. I don’t know what else we want here

Provy was hardly this bad last year. He was good. Ghost did great but Provy was better and is a better dman by a mile. Provy was a monster in the playoffs as well. He was tasked with stopping their entire team and did it until his shoulder fell off. Ghost was horrible in the playoffs. That said, I’m not trading Ghost for anything but a massive overpayment. He will likely rebound to top pair level next year and his contract could be one of the best in the league.

Well I love that they want Hughes. Makes sense. Nothing they could do in the offseason to get more people in seats. That would mean they intend to send Hart down at some point. Dorion is a moron. If anyone tries starting negotiations that high no one will listen. Like asking for a 100 million signing bonus to wash dishes. Like others have said, no reason to trade our first for anything. I want them to stay strong and tank. Trade simmer. Maybe even trade jake for an unprotected first from a playoff bubble team. Get those odds up!

Do people really forget Provy's bad few months leading up to the playoffs? Because it was basically the same as this year.

Never happen. Ouir players are four time champions so they are all great and no trades are happening.lol

I’m relieved that it’s likely Anderson the Flyers are scouting as opposed to wasting assets on guys who will be UFAs after the season like Stone & Duchene. Makes more sense. Anderson would be a nice insurance policy to pair with Hart, even though I think his days of being a top starter are over.

Forget a first round pick for him, though. That price will come down. A mid-round pick and a middling prospect, maybe.
