One thing I want to see happen is that if we don't make any trades, we need to weaponize the capspace... broker a couple of deals with retention and get a a pair of 4ths and offset the cost paid for Namestnikov and add some futures. They suffered so much to accumulate all that capspace, they need to use it even if they don't on a player for help now.

dreger on tradecenter said winnipeg is still talking and shopping

Did our due diligence, had some irons in the fire or whatever, looking for ways to improve and help our players... confident in our group. Just saving everyone from watching the press conference. Just want it to be 3:00 so I can move on with my Friday and move on to accepting I have to watch Adam Lowry play as 2C against the Edmonton Oilers (would be the case anyways) and watch our 2 4th lines and Pionk get feasted on

Pagnotta says Florida is at least listening on on Reinhart.... one can dream right. I doubt they deal him. But he would be a perfect fit to give us a lethal 1-2-3 up the middle. We don't have the parts to make it work though I don't think

I hope Chevy isn't done, but not sure why everyone is complaining as he is a clear upgrade on our bottom 6. From what I've read he has a reputation as being a smart player, who can play with better players as he maintains his role in a system well.
Agree with this generally. But the big issue really comes down to whether he can improve the 3rd line performance as long as we insist on keeping Lowry at C. My own view is that Chevy continues to misjudge how difficult a challenge this truly is... .

He hasn't played center in years. He's been exclusively used at wing since his Buffalo days.

Agree that might be the smart play if we're done in the market -- have we seen that from Chevy before?

If your third line when all are healthy is him Lowry Nino then we’ve improved quite a bit and added scoring depth to bottom six.
That is true - that could be a great shutdown third that can pot a few. Then maybe we can get someone to slide into a top 6 slot to allow Wheeler to be a part of a soft 4th scoring line with Stenny? Having Stenlund and Wheeler on the same line is going to lead to seizures by pbp guys especially when we wear our home heritage jerseys though haha

Well said.

Lowry is our 3c like Mick E. is the mascot.

He must have it as a contract rider.

I will drink a double shot of ouzo on the day Lowry makes way for a true 200-foot C, but don't expect to invest in that bottle until his contract ends.

I think prices are still really wonky on some players. Hopefully Chevy can get some 11th hour deal. All we can really hope for.

What's your take on the Jets TDL thus far?

Florid may be desperate to get some draft capital back. Maurice knows our roster.

2023 1st, Stanley, and (Maurice favourite) Lowry?

The only reason for getting Namestnikov that I can think of is Bowness suggested it. Perhaps Chevy said " We can get this guy for a 4th. You coached him, What do you think?

Perhaps Bowness thinks he can help the team. I dont know otherwise.

I love the Nino pickup. I'm very underwhelmed by the Namestnikov pickup. We got him very cheap so it's obviously a bargain bin pickup which we are known for at the deadline. Chevy needs to make a big swing though in order for this team to really compete.

Do they have room for Wheeler? Mo loves him and Wheeler spends time in Florida - might actually waive his NMC for that

Would love to see it but doubt we do until the offseason, if at all.

My bet is that Playoff Wheeler looms large for Chevy / org.

That and he is an upgrade on most of our bottom 6.

So we got 1.5 hours left and then potentially a flurry of deals right at the deadline. All we can do is hope.

I'm not watching any trade deadline shows, but I can imagine it's boooooring

For some reason I can't get on to TSN live on my browser. But I can get on through my phone.
