I wonder if the potential ice time issue with chychrun wouldn’t be solved by handing him the number one pp unit and spreading out the 5 on 5 minutes a little. Sure he might be “third pair” but if everyone’s playing a similar amount of even strength minutes and he’s running more pp minutes than any other d-man is that really a problem? Is a pretty compelling proposition on its own. Carolina needs an edge somewhere and it could come from the 3rd pair and 4th line.

lol as a potential PP QB, I like this trade way more than Poolparty who kinda sucks as an actual hockey player but is still living on draft pedigree.

Gostisbehere is living on past performance as well but at least he was a very good offensive d-man at some point.

But yeah, the borg does the borg things. Expect more dumpster diving this summer and beyond.

Not really. He had 51 points for Arizona last year, and 31 in 52 games this year. That's pretty decent given how terrible AZ is.

I mean his past performance is why he's still in the league and putting up points because Arizona doesn't have anyone else. He's not going to rack up points like that playing sheltered 5 on 5 minutes and on the Canes powerplay, whose mediocrity is more than just personnel issues.
