Purely hypothetical…they could trade for Chychrun at his full contract and Henrique at 50% retention as long as they sent back 1 player making league min (Coghlan) in one of those trades….

Henrique @ 50% next year probably would be pricey in terms of what the Ducks may want to retain almost $3M…

I feel like everyone is just throwing Carolina's name in the mix now for the clicks. We're just click bait material.
I feel like Carolina is legitimately calling 31 teams and asking "What do you have left to deal?"

Klingberg could help the PP, and I guess he'd be able to be sheltered on the 3rd pairing. But not quite what we were looking for based on this season's play.

So, as of this moment, I'd rank the available players as follows:

Lindholm>>Chychrun>>>>>Toffoli>>>Boeser/Hayes/JVR>>>>>>>>>>>>Klingberg/Kulikov

I'm sure I'm forgetting a player or two.

One thing Chychrun has over Lindholm is he'd probably be a better longer term fit (assuming they don't flip him in the summer for a top 6 forward instead of Skjei or Pesce) age wise and contract wise. However, Lindholm would be a big upgrade for our 2C, and he has 1 year left after this season and so has term (versus Chychrun having 2 more years left after this season), and I think he'd be a bigger difference maker for this season/playoffs than Chychrun.

Put another way, IMO Lindholm overall offers more benefits short term, and Chychrun offers more benefits long term.

Either one would be pretty good, and I'd be happy with either.

Can’t they just send Coghlan down to the AhL and bury his cap hit?

As far as the dman add goes, I actually wouldn't mind Klingberg. That would, pending adding another good forward as well, really wrap up the deadline with a solid bow. I imagine if we get Klingberg, the deal would look very much like the Domi deal. Give up very little and get another team involved for very little if needed based on the forward add. And this team has seemingly had a crush on him for a while. Very much not at the top of my list, but I wouldn't hate it as much as some.

Toffoli wouldn't be my absolute top add of guys that we might be able to pry loose either, but he would be a good one. He can definitely score some goals and is having a great year. Pretty solid on the PP as well. It helps that we would have the Williams connection and knowledge and his contract is great. I just hope if we don't acquire Toffoli that Williams doesn't have a hissy fit and quit like a certain Mr. Futa.

Yes…. Assuming we want to expose him to waivers and potentially lose him…. His salary and that of most of our lower priced guys is below the threshold of minor league level not subject to being on the cap…. Stepan, Noesen, deHaan, Chatfield, and others all in same situation…. Not that we as an org would ever do that to some of our veteran guys who took min deals to latch on with us….

leBrun saying we have interest in adding Domi again…. One assumes that would be a 259pm kind of thing if absolutely everything else falls through and we have roster spots and haven’t spent all the LTIR money by that point…… that should be last ditch thing not a, b, c, d, or x or y option…

Lindholm would be the ultimate "wait, he was available" move by the Canes brass. Yeah, no shit the guy's going to walk in 2 years. I literally have no problem with that, the dude's earned his money. The West wildcard race just got boring as f*** if they've decided to go into sell mode though considering Nashville and St Louis are clear sellers as well.

A Lindholm reunion would IMO be the best thing ever. An Aho-Lindholm-Staal-KK center group would only be around a short time but would also be a complete nightmare for other teams during that time period.

We'd sure as hell match up on the road a lot better too.

Sure put your 1st line out vs Staal Lindholm or Aho....ain't none of them BITCHES gonna score!

Larkin looks like he is staying with Detroit:
