Letang's never been a "I want to see him retire a Penguin no matter what" kinda guy to me. If he accepts a trade to Montreal, he's doing what's best for him and his family, so good for him. I'd also be fascinated on what he could return. Anything reasonable would be good for the rebuild, so good for the Pens. Seems like a win-win.
Having said that, it's absolutely wild to me that we are reasonably talking about trading a top pairing defenseman before firing the coach on a team that says they are committed to winning. Just crazy.
I also wonder if there is some truth to this. Obviously the general state of the team. Dubas randomly being in Montreal a couple of times. The whole "everyone but 87" report. I haven't been paying super close attention and never really did when it came to reading post game comments and shit, but it was weird to me when Malkin said he didn't want to be traded. Maybe Dubas did go to all the guys with NTC's and ask them if they were willing to be traded
Maybe Letang said OK to Montreal
Probably reading too much into it, but...
