The dude just wants free hot dogs.

What could they possibly be willing to trade that we should be interested in at this point? They’re not going to trade their youth, and if they did, what would we have they would want? We shouldn’t have any interest in any vets.
Yohe thinks Letang could be moved.

If Letang were to be willing to move, Montreal would likely be one of the few destinations he'd agree to go to.

Dubas is on the management staff for team Canada. He's more likely than not scouting Hyman, Bouchard, and Montembeault for that team.
Ok

But hear me out...

DUBAS IS THE f***ING MANAGER OF THE PENS, TOO

can he put this much goddamned effort into scouting mfers for THIS team?!? You know... His actual f***in paid job?????!?!!??? Cause this guy seems to have fogged up glasses when he picks players for us...

All indications are that Dubas does a ton of in-person scouting for the Pens, including amateur games and events.

Haase has said several times that Dubas is on the road frequently.

Then why has he been frequently scouting the Habs over other teams? Last Habs game against the Sabres he brought the Pens scouting staff alongside Spezza and Kessel.

Isn't the argument that the Pens have young players that should get the opportunity rather than veteran castoffs?
The young players who have a chance to return something decent in trade down the road? Sure.
Don't think that applies to Ponomarev or Poulin. Plus they're not gonna be here when the Pens are contenders again. I'm not concerned about whether they're blocked or not. They are bottom-six fillers during a weird transition period for the organization.

That's more a conversation for McGroarty, Pickering, Blom and later on maybe Brunicke and Murashov. Doesn't look like McGroarty's gonna be ready this year, so I'm not worried about vets in his way.
You can always just scratch/demote Nieto too. One veteran in, another out.

Whatever leads to more picks for the actual contention window is good with me.

Which GM is dumber: the one who traded McCann for a mediocre return instead of protecting him or the one who paid some assets for McCann to expose him while protecting great players like Justin Holl.
The McCann situation still bothers me because it perfectly encapsulates my problems with the team's management. They kept bleeding talent so nonchalantly as if we had anyone in our system to step in to those open spots when we didn't. In a vacuum each move they made might not have been the end of the world but when looked at as a whole this team let go of any talent they had outside of the core guys.

Trading Letang makes sense in the sense that Brunicke could play in the NHL next season and thus Letang's successor is already in the system.
The same goes for EK, of course

This is of course pure speculation and Yohe cannot be used as a meaningful source.

Funny how when Hextall's biggest blunders come to light years later, Dubas comes out of the woodwork to one-up him with an even bigger stinker.
