It really seems like Kesler to Pitt is done and the rest is window dressing.

You never know I guess. Hopefully the Flyers bid enough so the Pens have to dump Pouliot.

how about either grit/size or skill? We dont have enough guys that kill you with skill, or kill you with their bodies. we have a full roster of lukewarm middlemen.

we have a team full of "jack of all trades, master of none" players, and you need a few of those players, but not 18 of them.

sorry I think moving Stepan now would be idiotic. He's going to get better. Sure I'd like Kesler but with Stepan up the middle then Miller as the 3rd line. That would be a good crew to go with

Bingo. If Philly offers up one of Couts or Schenn then that's the scenario you are looking at. Pouliot is the real deal.

Pits also has a forward that's scoring at a near goal per game in college, forget his name, but announcers at a college game I was watching were absolutely raving about him.

If the prospect is closer to NHL ready and has equal value to a 1st (like a Miller or Spooner), then that is what Vancouver would prefer.

Also Rangers and TB tried to find a 3rd dance partner to facilitate a Callahan/MSL deal but could not, and have not so far.
 
Given how all of Sather's other "deadlines" seem to go (most recently, resolving Callahan before the Olympics), I fully expect this to be up in the air until 3PM tomorrow.

Agreed regarding trading him for Kesler.

I would be open to moving him in a package for a young gamebreaker, if we could find one, ala Girgensons.

The "Deadline" for Callahan is 12pm today because reports are Sather wants 24 hours to trade him if they can't come to an agreement. supposedly.
 
Stepan REALLY worries me about playing in this kind of system, his big 1/2 season last year came in a Torts laid back system. Does STepan have the creativity, skating, and talent to play in AV's? I'm honestly not so sure.

This has been a looming issue for months.

Nice to see hes giving himself 24 hours to make a franchise altering move.

He hasn't given it 24 hours. I'm sure he's been fielding calls, as we've been aware AND he's negotiated a contract with Cally.

He's given a 24 hour windown to get a trade done if Cally doesn't want to come down.

Everyone with a brain knows Sather (even though I hate him) wasn't sitting up until 12, doing nothing and then will be like "oh well, 24 hours to get this done!"

It's been in the works, I'm sure he has a gauge of his value and which teams are interested. It's a matter of who provides the best price come deadline time and he'll be gone.

Now, let's hope that happens and the 6 mil per is an unfortunate rumor that never comes to fruition.
