Maybe Glen was trying to do a sign and trade. Callahan at 6 million is much more attractive for potential buyers than the 7+ million he originally wanted as a UFA. I can hope right?

Girardi's NMC was put into place immediately. It's a new option available, and if one was in the contract, Callahan's camp would insist on it being activated immediately to prevent a sign and trade.

Conacher is on waivers. Another small middle six forward, not really what we need, but still a better/younger player than I'd expect to see on waivers. Key piece in the Bishop trade last year.

Also, reports that the cap WON'T be as high as everyone thinks next year; another reason why you don't give Cally this deal and simply say "well, it's okay, the cap is going up".

I hope that Callahan and the NYR have agreed to part ways, mostly due to a large looming Buffalo offer.

And his "coming down" to a "more reasonable" 6.3 x 6 was a ploy to up his trade value. Making him look much more signable to the acquiring team.

It doesn't seem that way,considering what he supposedly was willing to offer. I'm sure he's received interest but I'm not sure he even actively gauged returns himself, just received offers. Now, maybe, he'll actually pick up the phone and be proactive in this thing.

Well if the choice is scraps at the deadline, or something decent next season I can see him wanting to sign him for that.

I'd trade Stepan for Crosby, but I think Pittsburgh would want more. Not really sure why I posted this. Just thought you all should know I'd be down for something completely lopsided in our favor, as if any of you wouldn't be.
