Vancouver fans dont seem to happy and I agree. Pretty underwhelming return. This seems like a bad move by Islanders.
Who knows tho.. when you have a goalie like Sorokin anything can happen

Very underwhelming. Top 12 protection drops you out of the A grade prospects, Raty is a good but not great prospect, and they get a 25 year old middle six guy. For a potential 50 goal guy this year.Vancouver fans dont seem to happy and I agree. Pretty underwhelming return.
A potential 50 goal guy on an expiring contract. It's a rental AFAIK.Very underwhelming. Top 12 protection drops you out of the A grade prospects, Raty is a good but not great prospect, and they get a 25 year old middle six guy. For a potential 50 goal guy this year.
Yup, Raty is a B prospect and they get a middle 1st rounder along with Beauvillier which isn't a great loss.Very underwhelming. I don't think it's a guarantee Horvat re-signs either.
Chychrun has two years remaining on his contract. As does Karlsson, though his years remaining aren't exactly a good thing.Yup, Raty is a B prospect and they get a middle 1st rounder along with Beauvillier which isn't a great loss.
Its a fine return but you here 3 1st rounders for Karlsson or 1st and 2 A prospects for Chychrun it doesn't sound like the market is there.
If he doesn't resign and the Islanders miss the playoffs then the GM should be fired for that trade.I don't think it's a guarantee Horvat re-signs either.
They had their sights set waaaay too high.Vancouver fans dont seem to happy and I agree. Pretty underwhelming return.
Or maybe they will try to make the playoffs. Don’t think he is readyIf they need to sign him to an ELC this season and have him burn off a year to get him to sign with us they'll have to have a roster spot.
You are thinking of the days when the Sabres had no chance to make playoffs. Playoff teams don’t do thatOr maybe they will try to make the playoffs. Don’t think he is ready
Islanders can also trade Horvat in a month if he doesn't sign. a la Vanek.Chychrun has two years remaining on his contract. As does Karlsson, though his years remaining aren't exactly a good thing.
It wouldn’t be the first time the Isles traded early for a rental and then had to flip him at the deadline because it didn’t move the needle. If he doesn't resign and the Islanders miss the playoffs then the GM should be fired for that trade.
It would be dumb to make this trade without talking about an extension first.

Statements are in conjunctionI like how you quoted yourself and rebutted what you said
We got to stop thinking like a team that is not playoff caliberStatements are in conjunction
Playoff teams worry about making the playoffd
Not about prospects
Only way they get a sniff is if out of playoff picture.
I sure hope they are on the hunt. Playoff teams don’t call up unready players
And how did that work out for them?Islanders can also trade Horvat in a month if he doesn't sign. a la Vanek.
Who cares, it was only an example. And how did that work out for them?
As much as I want Meier and have been an advocate of his for a while, but I think D is definitely more important. We're already an offensive powerhouse.
But I guess why not both. Don't think I am as high on Chych with his injury history.
Even with an extension this is just poor roster assessment. For his career there is not much separating Horvat from Brock Nelson. If he doesn't resign and the Islanders miss the playoffs then the GM should be fired for that trade.
It would be dumb to make this trade without talking about an extension first.
Our offense is a powerhouse because of our forwards AND our defensemen. Our defense is lousy because of our forwards, defensemen, and goalie situation -- with ebbs and flows as players were struggling our injured. My point being that it's not so straight forward. Meier or Chychrun would both improve the team offensively and defensively, at the same time truly improving the team defensively is going to require the coaches install a real defensive scheme and coach the players up on it, which isn't gonna happen this season. As much as I want Meier and have been an advocate of his for a while, but I think D is definitely more important. The Horvat return seems more like what a 50-point center would get. Perhaps no one else is convinced this season is what one will get with Horvat going forward.
Yeah, I don't get why Rutherford did this deal NOW. I mean, I get why Lou wanted it done now.......but certainly Rutherford could have gotten a better prospect out of someone. Unless Rutherford/Allvin/Canucks scouting are absolutely in love with Raty?
Let's see how Horvat does in the place offense goes to die.
Also -- any word on what happens to the pick if the Isles are in the top 12?
I don’t know that Horvat really moves the needle for them, but I respect the effort.
No need to get into an arms race, but the potential points of improvement remain the same as they were before
